Done! It only took four months! 😅
It’s only the third kit I’ve done, but much more challenging than the other two. (and hopefully the most challenging for a bit)
I still need to rinse the blue line. I’ve also changed to a wooden hoop but the size seems slightly smaller…

#embroidery #done #proud
Finished embroidery kit.
The design is a mix of the Great Wave off Kanagawa and the Starry Night by Van Gogh.
The wave itself looks very detailed in clean white long and short stitches on the top, black and dark blue stripes on the underside of the wave, and a silver outline and silver highlights on the foamy part of the wave.
The sky feels messier with mixes of small stitches of varying tones of blue. The moon is in the top right surrounded by a light blue glow. You can see five stars in the form of masses of varying greens.
Finally the sky shows a big swirl of varying tons of blue in lighter shades. The swirl is also outlined with silver.
The hoop is set against a dark wood coffee table.

I’m at an In-n-Out that doesn’t have the typical layout and it got me all confused.

If you don’t mind being told about typos, I saw “locarion”.

I’m at a spot with Vim where, for how much I love it, I know my setup is poor and I’m just managing because I’m efficient with it. So much inertia to fix it though…

It’s a brilliant way of protesting and defeating the “war zone” lies.

It’s all lies on top of lies of course.

But the idea that a one-week intervention anywhere is enough to magically make crime fully disappear from any city is really absurd.

As usual follow-up questions would be nice. Where did the criminals go? Will they come back? Why not?

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

Beyond impressed by the number of books read and the embroidery!

Exquisite!

I love how the fabric’s color becomes the dress’s color, the subtle darker blue accent on the little water dashes, and the way the rocks look like a drawing.

“2D flat” when it’s clearly going for a Penrose triangle.

I’ve been thinking about how so much of what’s happening is due to the inability of the US to get something other than a two-party system.
And one of the consequences is believing that.

The important thing to know is that impeachment is a political process, whereas the immunity decision relates to criminal offenses committed as president.
Congress can impeach regardless and if convicted (very unlikely at this point) could decide on political remedies like removal and ineligibility.

Moving that radiator so that it’s not awkwardly in the middle of the wall inside the tub isn’t selbermachen, you have to hire professionals.

A good sponge and some white vinegar will take care of the rest.

I love the concept and execution!

It looks like something where the bottom half takes 90% of the time. That’s a lot of French knots 😯

The drawings made me think of the book “Open Circuits”, which has detailed photography of the internals of components and circuits.

Somehow I had never come across the idea of dimensioning solder pads. That makes sense of course, just not something I’ve seen when people talk about the PCBs they design.

Beautiful work!

Almost three weeks later, I still think this is a step back.
The effect on the icons looks bad, the unnecessary flashing wherever you tap, the stupid distortion effects with the glass.
All unnecessary and bad looking.

I just installed iOS 26, and my first impressions are bad. Too many light effects and things that move for no good reason.
It feels very “junior designer just discovered the shrink wrap effect in photoshop”.

Most things have gotten so cheap that fixing them doesn’t make economic sense. How much would you have to pay someone to do the same fix? Likely much more than the cost of a new fan.
Photo of the table fan with its cover removed, exposing its internals.
On the left, you can see a black plastic rectangular component with a red and black wires coming out of it. That’s the old capacitor that I replaced.

One thing I really enjoy is fixing things, especially when the thing to fix and the fix itself are cheap.
I had this fan that was mostly working but sometimes struggled to get started. Turns out it’s a capacitor issue which can be replaced for $3 and 20 minutes.
Better than getting a whole new fan.

I received a recruiting email for a blockchain/token company. In the year 2025.

In a way, it’s actually refreshing in a stream of AI companies!

This was a quick one — I think video creators are under a big risk right now, bigger actually than before Kimmel was pulled off the air. One part of the reason why is a behind-the-scenes consolidation that almost nobody is paying attention to. youtube.com/shorts/3cK51...

I should rewatch some.
I loved the games, but what I remember of the movies I saw felt kind of flat and… muffled? I don’t know how to say it, just not very memorable to start with and not really fun.

We’re back!
This is from a handful of sessions.
I don’t love making these types of sections because the colors are mixed and it’s hard to know where this is going. The flip side is that it’s nice when it’s starting to take shape!

Photo of the same mountain and trees embroidery kit the trees are still done in different greens. The two mountains are partially done. The new stuff is on the mountain on the right which has dark blue stitches and also some kind of burgundy mixed with the purple.
