#Section230 turned 30 yesterday! Over the past few weeks, we've explained what the law does, highlighted positive outcomes it enables for independent creators & marginalized voices, established our principles for evaluating reform, and explored what thoughtful changes could look like.

cancelling nitro's all cool (i did it too) but don't forget that this age verification requirement is pushed by "think of the children!!" govt regulations slowly creeping into more and more countries. alas it seems to be inevitable that in a decade every big online service is going to be age-gated.

In spite of everything, keep pushing to protect Section 230. Getting rid of it WON'T hold tech giants accountable.

The same can be said for KOSA and the myriad of bills being forced for control. Be loud about how dangerous they are for our privacy and safety. Don't give up!!

They're still trying all the ID and removing section 230. Please call or email reps or more if you can. I better not see this pass and y'all complain about why there isn't porn or stretchy or furry things as much or not at all anymore when you didn't to anything lmao
Call or email your reps about Kosa and Section 230
If S230 is repealed any website or company can be punished for what their users post and so will have to censor or limit who can post. And Kosa is requiring every website to have ID verification

Email or call your reps!!

We see some of the same section 230 repeal ideas pop up year after year - including to replacing "otherwise objectionable" with just "unlawful" to make platforms neutral conduits of speech (driven by the "anti-conservative bias" rhetoric). ...but its not so simple

This is a solid quick read on why Section 230 is important.

Also worth a follow if you care about an open non-monopoly internet.

Not to spam but to bring awareness about the danger of it getting removed.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. American followers. You need to act because everyone outside the US cant, but we'll all be affected by this especially those who use Ao3. But also social media in general will be affected.
Link in comments on how to act. Also PLEASE SHARE AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE.

Don’t believe the claims about ‘kids safety’ behind the push for Online ID checks. They are and always have been about surveillance and censorship.
