the entire time I was installing the drivers the antivirus kept popping up with "the software cannot be run. try again/close program?" and my dad was just like "oh, it won't stop bugging you. just hit the minus button and then you don't have to see it"

if you have people in your life who are suffering from mental illness? just check in with them. don't tell them why, just keep yourself present when you can.

not all mental illness leads to suicide.
sometimes it leads to habits that feel just like grief and mourning when you find out what they are.

my characters are in space because Earth sucks for the reasons it always has--pollution, lack of resources, war. Much of the cast are disabled in some way from something that happened to them: one kid was blown up, one was kidnapped, one was crushed. All of it in the name of eugenics/progress

yes and no. a disease that eats your bones and your mind will convince you there are ghosts in the walls, but it's just hallucinations.
