Today I’m helping out at my job from 20+ years ago, helping Greg & the DreamHaven crew ship books across the country to folks who inundated their webstore after seeing him on TV.

Website is still down, but later try DreamHavenbooks.com for all your sci-fi, horror, fantasy, film, & comics needs!

One small thing you can do *right now* — donate $5, $10, $50, whatever you're able — to this rent fund for South Minneapolis daycare workers whose families are sheltering in place. Can we raise $5k today??

Whatever you can give matters. And if you can't give, can you share?

Awards and shinies are wonderful (congrats to the ALA honors and winners today), but far more important is how a book connects with a reader, challenges them, encourages them, makes them curious, makes them dream, gives them comfort or insight or ambition. Write for the reader, not the accolade.

Absolutely nothing better than when you get a note saying that your editor is giving one of their lightest structural edits ever 🎉 I've worked really hard on structure and pacing over the years, and I'm glad to see it's paying off

Parsing a book’s PR campaign and its sales impact.

Potential reach of publicity across broadcast and print media: 2.2 million people*

Actual sales of the book: 2,222

(Odd, I mean even, that it’s all 2s)

*of course some of these will be the same people counted more than once. But still.
