A BLOOMY HEAD is my first historical romance, set in 1820 Shropshire. Dr. Thomas Holyoke has been unceremoniously ejected by a horrible injury from the British military, and finds himself being taken home to the chaotic family of his surgical assistant, Henry Gravenor.
hey! Lovestruck Books currently has ONE copy of A Bloomy Head left on the shelves!

pantser who uses lists of ideas. All of my writing is in a single folder on my computer. The floor is clean but things are organized in heaps. Every so often I have to take my books off the shelves and put them on different shelves to remember what I have.
A question for writers. I was thinking about the continuum between plotters and pantsers and wondered... Does writing style match your living style?

That is, are plotters more prone to organized clean workspaces while pantsers are more prone more chaotic and messy spaces?

I both do not have any religious practices and increasingly think I need to acquaint myself with rituals of grief and remembrance to get through the next few years, and so here we are.
I get asked a lot what I'm giving up for Lent, and this year the answer is nothing. this is what I'm doing instead, and I'll tell you why, and you're invited to join in with me however it fits into your own spiritual or contemplative practices.

just going to say that I have been messing about with a similar mental model for community work (ie gradually increasing one’s load) but I probably haven’t thought carefully enough about what are the spiritual/emotional inputs which give one resources to do that work
Okay, I admit not everything can be related to sports, but boy, writing can, hear me out

There's a thing called chronic training load, and slowly increasing it, and maintaining a relatively high CTL, is a key way that human beings adapt to get better
Also, please forgive me for ALWAYS ranting about this but:

You can't really write good stuff out of thin air. You DO need to READ.

Yes, I get and champion the Three Morning Pages, the Shitty First Draft, the 15-30 Minutes Writing Sprint, BUT you DO need to read.

Read to improve your writing.

lol, it’s a lot easier to form a tenants union when everyone in the building is in the same group chat
MAJOR: Twin Cities Tenants joins five labor unions, together repping 25,900 members, to launch a rent strike drive, vowing to withhold rent March 1 if @governorwalz.mn.gov fails to deliver an eviction moratorium and rent relief. If launched, this would be the largest US rent strike in 100+ years.

This was REALLY GOOD with a scoop of yogurt.
Today’s Pretty Successful Shelf-Stable Food Dinner:

heat up a glug of olive oil. add dried onions, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, any other Italian seasoning on hand.

Add ~1/2 cups red lentils. Stir. Add 1 tbsp of powdered chicken stock and 2-3 cups of water; simmer 15 minutes.

It's easy to get clicks from telling everyone that stormtroopers are going to surround every polling station in America, but vital action now includes making sure:

1) Everyone is registered
2) they haven't been purged if they WERE registered
3) they know what ID they need
4) they can get that ID

This is what the state of Voter ID laws currently is. It's incoherent, every state has different rules, untangling them or giving generalized national advice is pointless. Most folks don't know the rules INSIDE their own state, much less in everyone else's!

Please read this thread!!!

And if you are concerned about ICE being deployed for voter intimidation, find a local voting rights org who is already doing the work.

Start with Vote Riders. States having weird/changing Voter ID laws is less flashy for scaring folks but it works real well.
Each arrest takes like a half dozen agents. They just don’t have the manpower for this. I am not even sure where the marginal utility of this type of thing would be. Maybe if they concentrated their efforts in one congressional district or something.
One of my biggest fears about the midterms is that ICE could flood the polls with agents who perform Kavanaugh Stops on every non-white person before they get a chance to cast a ballot, then detain them until voting is over. Which is not far-fetched at this point. www.huffpost.com/entry/ice-po...
