Nelvana, one of Canada’s most biggest animation studios has reportedly shut down after 54 years. (1974-2025).

Workers are saying the studio has closed down its doors last Friday.

Animation has been doing this for a while and it’s gotten worse b/c the concept of “you need to hit the ground running because WE DON’T HAVE TIME”, while manufactured, destroys any sort of on the job learning. Seeing it spread to other areas of art because we’re all pretty desperate was inevitable

I've seen an uptick in art and design tests essentially expecting an all-knowing all-skilled developer to land in their laps, resulting in people with incredible skills getting rejected because they just needed a little support in a single area.

We are EATING OURSELVES if we hire like this.

I don't get how people don't realize that a technology that replaces junior and entry level positions in a field destroys that field.

There's no skipping steps. You have to be a junior before you can be a senior, and if you don't have senior people, you don't have a field.
