I've mentioned this quietly, but - since the summer my hobby has been making this ambitious murder mystery podcast. A story. Narrated by me, with a mouthwatering cast. Partly interactive. Trailer is coming tomorrow but if you like the sound of this, please follow @murderbastard.bsky.social.

I just signed up for #secretsantaaonz and I’m excited!
Things that may be useful to know: I love cute stationery, little plates or bowls, earrings, notebooks. Likes and hobbies are on my profile. My current hyperfocus is Ghosts (BBC)/Horrible Histories.

Funeral tomorrow; one of the ladies in my Church Choir. She left instructions for the music - Gounod/Bach Ave Maria and Lloyd-Webber Pie Jesu and a couple of hymns.

Ambitious? Yes. But will we smash it? Also yes!

The start of another working week and a gorgeous day!

When sanding and oiling your #kobudo weapons, it’s important to have your teens in the room with you and ensure you make eye contact with them to make it *really* awkward.

Big day today with my Y11 Maths and Y13 Stats students both sitting exams. Only had to lend one calculator so that’s a good sign that they are at least slightly prepared.

Nothing much, just cool photo that my hubby took of me looking fierce at a #karate #kobudo demo on the weekend. #HuttJapanDay

Abbot: Did you draw in the margins of this bible?

Me: Yeah, it's called illumination. Very fancy.

Abbot: *opens book* Is this a tree growing dicks instead of fruit?

Me: lol yeah

Gorgeous day here in #welly! Enjoying the late afternoon sun and watching #NZLvJAM from a comfy spot on the couch.

I mean this is spam, right @support.bsky.team ?

My rambling thoughts are not likely to threaten anyone’s security 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s our 21st anniversary this weekend. As luck would have it, I won a work raffle - a night at a colleague’s AirBnB; a cute little cabin in Kaitoke.

The teens are at home and getting UberEats tonight while hubby and I enjoy each other’s company in peace and quiet. 🥰

Not a nice way to end the day. No damage except to my nerves. Ugh.

I mean, 6-7 is HILARIOUS 🤨

But after a lot of wasted time returning everything to its rightful place I’m honestly a little pissed. Have now banned my form class from their room at break until I get names and apologies. Grr.

All Saint’s Palmerston North, NZ. Built in 1913 but closed since 2013 due to concerns about earthquake resistance. As a result, today’s celebration of 150 years of Anglicans at this site was held OFF-site at the local Town Hall. A great day for it but a real shame we can’t use this gorgeous building

Brutalist building in Palmerston North, NZ in the setting sun. Visiting my sister and having a lovely kid-free weekend.

Not really a Halloween person but I love a costume and when the school dresses up for the day, I go the full Pat Butcher! #Ghosts #BBCGhosts

Too sweaty to tuck the gi top into my riding pants so rode home from #karate like this.
Which was fine until I hit the motorway and my belt started slapping my leg like a persistent toddler.

Today we had a special morning tea provided by the school board and some of us with over 20 years at UHC got a wee bit of recognition.

I know in a more prestigious job I might get a gold watch or some such, but in a school this is pretty darn generous! #teacherlife

I love my job, particularly on nights like this. It’s Senior Prizegiving and the Kapa Haka group have come forward to congratulate the Cultural Award winners with a rousing haka. Love how the Head Boy and two of the other recipients join in and tautoko back.

This speaks to me in a way I can’t describe in words. So I won’t.
I love this image, but also the idea that your clenched fist is the same size as your heart

Didn’t go to the protest in #welly today because the union called it off for the rather large storm. Oh well.
Stayed in my pjs all day and watched six episodes of #BBCGhosts instead. Win!

🧵Spotted During a Massive Power Outage in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A couple (20s?) taking a leisurely river walk. Passing a brand-new tiny human between them, enjoying the sunshine.
They might be slow moving and a bit sleepy, but they're enjoying the moment.
Birdsong in the trees overhead. (1)

I’m #striking tomorrow with all #PPTA (secondary) #teachers. We deserve better pay and conditions, particularly as we implement curriculum changes in Years 9-11 with minimal support.
Young people are facing many more challenges both socially and academically than ever before.
We are worth more!
