As a teacher, I don’t for the life of me understand parents who think that their students are supposed to get As on every single assessment they do. Like, school is hard enough without the pressure to be perfect in everything. Let little Johnny learn and not be afraid of getting a B+. Damn!

I find myself struggling. Went to an AI pd. Basically, AI is here and we have to teach students that process over product is the end goal. Fine. Same day, kid uses AI with my sub in the room to write his in class timed essay. I’m having a hard time dealing with process over product when product wins

In the kitchen making my assigned dishes (greens and candied yams) and then I might make a cheesecake after the mom in law makes her dressing. I like not having to cook everything. I feel like I have my whole day to do stuff, like nap.

I promise when I find that time this semester I’m going to create a supplemental unit examining Kendrick Lamar’s evolution and use of Lucy/Lucifer in his lyrics (amongst other things).

Spare? The best part of my job is teaching students to find their own voice in writing. How the hell can something without its own identity, experiences, and perspective teach kids how to find and use theirs?
