I’m honored to announce that I was invited to speak at Kean University for the international @dirfloortime.bsky.social Conference. My session will explore how relationship-based developmental therapies connect with conscious, affirming parenting practices for autistic children. ❤️

You aren’t entitled to a child’s warmth simply because you are an adult. And a child’s limited capacity for socializing is not a character flaw.

I called my mom and she gone text me back talking bout she’s working out. The nerve of her working out while I need to vent about a minor inconvenience. THE NERVE.

Bay bay, listen…from a child development standpoint, bedtime routines are foundational. Structure builds safety, and safety builds cooperation. My kids know their routine so well they’ll say, “I’m ready for bed,” before I even mention it. And them going down a few hours before I do? My time for ME.

I don’t perform parenting. I refuse to turn my child into a spectacle to meet someone else’s idea of “good parenting.” I don’t weaponize authority to satisfy onlookers. If my parenting isn’t tough enough for you, redirect your gaze.

Silencing their voice, while you raise yours is not discipline…It’s certainly not respect. A healthy relationship makes room for expressed needs, feelings, and boundaries. Respect isn’t one-way. The best way to teach respect is modeling respect. Consider the way YOU make children feel around YOU.

Apologizing to a Black child is an act of liberation. It validates, empowers, and teaches that accountability is love.
