Your elected officials need to know book banners don't speak for everyone - or even the majority! Many censorship fights are happening at board and city council meetings.

We're stronger TOGETHER.

If you have 30 minutes: Write a letter to your local officials or to local media. Make a plan to attend your local school board, library board, or city council meeting. bit.ly/LetFreedomReadDay

This is beyond sad. The war on librarians and literacy continues, when we all out here just tryna get these babies to enjoy reading or find books that interest them. LIBRARIANS ARE NOT THE VILLAINS! By and large, librarians are some of the most caring, selfless individuals you'll ever meet.

It’s a 1️⃣-2️⃣punch: The State of Texas, the Regents, & the President dissolve the Faculty Council. Then Trump offers a compact that will affect academic freedom, curriculum, student recruitment, research priorities, the future of academic programs. Once faculty had a voice in such decisions. No longer.

We can complain here but every one of us should be calling our Congresspersons en masse. These speeches were shockingly unAmerican and our vets need us to speak up.

Hegseth: "It all starts with physical fitness and appearance. If the secretary of war can do regular hard PT, so can every member of our joint force. Frankly, it's tiring to look out at combat formations and see fat troops. Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals."

An “unusual” meeting? The President of the United States just suggested turning the US military on American cities. I’m not usually into this kind of commentary but in this moment I’m going to need you to do better than “unusual” @nytimes.com

Breaking News: President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the military should use U.S. cities as “training grounds” at an unusual meeting focused on culture wars. It was unclear why they needed to gather senior military leaders from overseas to tell them this face to face.

If there’s an author you appreciate, one of the simplest, most helpful, least expensive things you can do for them is ask your public library to add that author’s newest book to their collection.

Many library websites have a form for that. So give it a try, and make an author’s day!
