While about 175,000 people in Metro Nashville remain without power, devastation caused by a weekend ice and snow storm isn't limited to Middle Tennessee: @cstephenson.bsky.social reports a West Tennessee nursing home was evacuated after losing power, Hardin County warming shelters near full.
Thousands remain without power in Tennessee with single-digit temperatures expected • Tennessee Lookout
Roughly 200,000 Tennesseans remain without power Monday in frigid temperatures after a major winter storm froze trees, power lines and roadways and coated them with ice. The Tennessee Department of He...

I think I'll end my day of #bird watching and photographing with this almost perfect photo of a male #cardinal in the frozen pine tree. The temperature now at 3:30 PM is 14 degrees on our back porch here in #MiddleTennessee. Lots of sunshine that made the ice sparkle but no thawing.

Birds and Icy tree
Still to icy for us to venture any further than the porches. We put some bird seed at the edge of the back porch and there are birds everywhere. I love watching and photographing them. Here's 3 of my favorites so far today.

Good Morning from #MiddleTennessee. We got up to a 5 degree morning but seeing blue skies and sunshine brightened my morning. We were so thankful and amazed that our power was restored last night a few minutes before 7 PM. Photo couldn't capture how the ice was sparkling on the tree.

Sunday morning update: Freezing rain overnight and continuing this morning. Coating of ice on everything. Power went out at 7 AM. Please stay safe. I'll be checking in from time to time.

Power is not off.....but I've already started using the back porch refrigerator. Only bonus I can think of from this #WinterStorm. So far today, it's not been bad...a powdery snow this morning and maybe a little sleet on and off this afternoon. #MiddleTennessee

We're so well stocked on food for the #WinterStorm that headed our way in #MiddleTennessee that I can't decide what to cook for supper. Not exactly sure what mixture we'll wind up getting ...SNOW, SLEET, FREEZING RAIN?? then on top of that a week of below freezing temperatures. Stay safe everyone.

Here in #MiddleTennessee we started out this morning with fog, cold enough that the county just north of us had some freezing fog accidents. I'm not sure what time it left and the sun was free to shine brightly. I found a wind free space and enjoyed some sun sitting and cloud watching.

Minnesotans want safety. They want freedom. They want what’s best for our kids.

Masked agents snatching preschoolers off the street and sending them to Texas detention centers serves none of those purposes.

This campaign of retribution has got to stop.

The average ICE agent makes $100k a year, in some cases without a high school diploma, to roam our streets lawlessly terrorizing people. Meanwhile, law abiding American citizens are trying to figure out how they pay for healthcare and groceries at the same time.

What worries me with ice is that the public has no way of knowing if they are really ice. They have unmarked vehicles, wear masks, show no warrants or legal paperwork, no identification, and appear very unprofessional and violent. Anyone could be impersonating ice to terrorize our communities.

Today we honor Dr. King by remembering that his legacy wasn’t comfort or quiet it was courage, sacrifice, and resistance in the face of injustice. He knew progress is never handed down; it’s pushed forward by ordinary people who refuse to accept inequality as normal.
