I have *NEVER* felt so conflicted about a #cookie banner.

I wouldn't want to reject the wrong kind of cookie. I mean chocolate chip, and snickerdoodles, and ..... they're all pretty darned essential in my book.

So-called "Standard Time" runs from November 2, 2025 to March 8, 2026. That's only four months and six days. Which means, Daylight Saving Time is longer. I therefore submit that Daylight Saving Time is the *TRUE* standard.

We had one trick-or-treater come dressed as an Amazon delivery person. He went all out on it too. He not only gave us a package, he even had an Amazon truck! Talk about dedication to the bit!!

(Hey, we live on a cul de sac and don’t get many kids; why shouldn’t the Amazon guy get candy too?)

Shockingly, none of my Trekkie friends have picked up on the implications of this recent hardware announcement.

Move over Boaty McBoatface, there's a new contender for silliest name. The British public has voted to name a new leaf-removal train: Ctrl-Alt-Deleaf.

A highlight to the day: hearing an oompah band play the chicken dance followed by the Brady Bunch theme.

I’m more of a #dog person, but this article about a #cat may be one of the most heartwarming #Wikipedia articles ever written.

@carlfranklin.bsky.social I think you interviewed @b0rk.jvns.ca on #dotnetrocks a few years back, but might I suggest the Wizardzines.com comics archive for the #betterKnowAFramework segment in some future episode?

Gotta say, I find the weekly Saturday comic from @b0rk.jvns.ca are a terrific source of “bite-sized” (byte-sized?) chunks of learning.

For example, this week’s was about the #git reflog command. That was my “learn something new" for today.

Using #copilot for projects, the responses are so obsequious at times, I find myself wanting to address it as "wormtail."

This casts me in the role of Voldemort, and I do not care for that.

Today I learned ... well, several things. Along with the history of writing messages on "bullets", I also learned the Latin word for "catch" is "dexai", which I don't believe ever came up in two years of High School Latin.

A rare sighting of a North American Pay Phone (phonicus payus). These noble beasts once roamed throughout North America frequenting shopping malls, restaurants, bars, and even city streets.

Today, their numbers dwindle due to competition from the invasive mobile phone (phonicus mobilieus).

I had a chance meeting this morning with Donna Wiegle that led to a longer than expected conversation.

Long story short, she’s one awesome, bad-ass, woman. She’s also nine years into kicking ovarian cancer’s ass.

You can read more about this amazing woman on her website at tealonwheels.org

The short story I've long known as "The Magic Goes Away" seems to be more correctly be "Not Long before the End" which is just the first story in the book "The Magic Goes Away."

I recognize "What Good is a Glass Dagger?" but otherwise, this is (to me) a new book!

At some point, I'm gonna need to replace my car. And whenever that happens, I just know I'm going to mishear something and end up with a car that's a lovely shade of mondegreen.

This year more than ever, it's important to remember what Labor Day is about. Today, society in general acknowledges that "workers have some rights." Those words were painted in the blood of Union organizers and protesters. (1/4)
