Oh, Crown...

Making AIP seem like Merchant Ivory by comparison.

This is where the roster currently stands.

There are now really nice classic Nighthawk and Jim Hammond mods, plus upgraded ones for Polaris and Captain Britain.

Hammond especially would be cool because the Invaders, West Coast Avengers, Heroes for Hire thing fits my maximum team-building potential objective.

I fell away from modding Ultimate Alliance after I settled upon a roster of characters I was happy with *and* the best modder in the scene passed away.

Since then, there have been a few massive improvements on some of my fav characters. Now I gotta find that old tutorial I used.

Learned how to use dgVoodoo2 to get the early-2000s Triple Crown of freeware games running properly in Windows 11.

V66 played it *a lot* back in the day.

Great shots of mid-1980s Boston in the vid, too.

by Dan Jurgens (1994)
Hank Hall had already made a heel turn when he became Monarch, but he found a way to level up during Zero Hour and became Extant.

Also, every time Sourball is on screen, I think "So was Darren McGavin busy that weekend?"

It's a nice hook of a high concept executed competently and entertainingly!

Clint Walker refers to the Cranky Guy in Killdozer crew as "Sourball," which is odd as hell but also pretty great.

What needs to be done is start demystifying legacy media because it happened to be around prior to 1995.

I don't care about their past accomplishments. Now they're no different than the holding companies which own Atari or Bell and Howell or Toys R Us.

"But a lot of people still get news from them..."

Yeah, Facebook-poisoned old timers who lack the resolve or cable package to just watch Fox. They've already picked their side.

The CBS stuff is gross but at the same time has the same impact as worrying about a leadership at at fax machine manufacturer in 2025.

Network news in general is garbage nowadays, the web presence is full of dodgy ads posing as articles and cross promotional shit like ABC News site hyping Disney.

The TSR Marvel OHOTMU books are a treasure.

It's similar to why I have an instinctive revulsion to comedians and actors who lean into the "Boston" stereotype.

Even from an early age, country felt weirdly stage-y to me, more than any cartoonish cock rock act.

It proclaimed itself the music of "just folks" but everything about felt contrived and ritualized, leaning into reductive cliches.

"Now that I've filed my article, I'm going to knock back a few California Collers at the local fern bar, then ask my broker at Drexel Burnham to get me a slice of that sweet bond trading pie!"

I can only assume the WSJ's Johnny Cash take was submitted from 1985 via a fax machine with a really slow data processing rate.

you should have let him get melted, Aya

WSJ: "Compared to...Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool"

well, I guess by WSJ standards this *was* the height of coolness:

I was wondering why I was having a difficult time with this playthrough of Parasite Eve until I realized was was doing EX mode but forgot to engrave the gear to carry over from my previous one.
