In order to dive into the role of a pilot in the STAR TREK Universe, Cabrera consulted maps and binged older episodes: "The scripts are so dense, and I had to do a lot of work in my mind to get a sense of where I was [in the galaxy]. It’s the most visual work I had to do for myself. I had to really imagine where I was and what all the planets looked like. Sometimes it's just one sentence in the script and you just over-read it, but I was really breaking into those descriptions for myself. Because I was a pilot, [Producer] Kirsten Beyer was very helpful for this kind of thing. I just kind of picked her mind about the world we’re in. I had maps on my wall, just to sense of the geography of it all. Rios is a guy who knows his way around. And I kind of needed to see it all in my head."

Then just watching them again, it was like, wow, Whoopi Goldberg was amazing on that show. It was crazy to remember how important it was. I didn’t watch every episode, but it was really helpful to go back and see it. It was such a ballsy show for that time. To open with Q!"

I suck at describing things, and this particular image has a lot going on. I'll do my best, but I apologize in advance. An image from Star Trek: The Next Generation showing a busy bridge. I'm pissed that Starfleet Academy has clearly been targeted by anti-woke grifters in the same way Star Wars: The Acolyte. They're clearly laying the groundwork to go after it because it's a show in a Boomer scifi franchise with a diverse cast, not aimed at an older white male audience.

"Maps and Legends" featured some notable cursing: The f-bomb from Admiral Clancy and Laris' line "cheeky feckers". As scripted the line read "cheeky bastards" but Orla Brady adlibbed "feckers" (appropriate to her native Irish accent) and the take was used in the final episode.
