I get so confused whenever that company uses, “The world’s greatest RPG” in marketing because D&D 5e is a lot of things, but it’s certainly not that.

Heck, it’s not even the greatest D&D.
The best science-fiction role-playing game ever, adapted at last to the world's most popular rules!

Spearheaded by GDW and TSR veteran Timothy Brown, Traveller 5E is coming from World's Largest RPGs, with crowdfunding in March 2026...

One of the best examples of this comes from Pillars of Eternity’s endings.

[spoilers, but I’ll leave out the biggest spoilers]

The game is all about solving the Hollowborn crisis, a plague where children are being born without souls. You find out that these souls are being stored somewhere. [1/7]
To make reasonable people choose the less nice options, you need to create scenarios where it's arguable the nice option doesn't lead to the most good. If niceness does not always equal goodness, players will be more likely to branch out with their choices.

If you see this, stop & quote with a song that has your name/nickname in the title or lyrics

My wife really likes that this song features my name.

You mean the technology that literally encourages kids to commit suicide and helps them plan it?

IDK, maybe we should take a poll. How do people feel about the kid-killer app?
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

Players is absolutely fantastic, even if you don't care about eSports at all (but amazing if you do).

For some reason, Paramount Plus removed it but it's available on YouTube. Highly recommend checking it out!
For years, Tony Yacenda's "American Vandal" has been my favorite Netflix show, but I never watched "Players," his eSports follow-up. Found out it was all on an official YouTube playlist. Blasted through it in 3 days. Phenomenal. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Been reviewing Scroll & Steel moves with an eye toward making them more concise and punchy, and this evolution of Hunt Prey really stood out.

These don’t do the exact same thing, but it’s close enough. Also maybe we don’t need another character type whose personality is, “Hates all goblins.”

This is a bit like the Hunter archetype in Scroll & Steel. The goal is that, eventually, you have a bond with every type of creature you’re going to come in conflict with.
Ttrpg combat game where there's a set, limited bestiary, but each final blow to a specific entry adds a permanent +1 to damage against, -1 damage from others like it by that PC. Eventually you're mowing through swarms of them like they're nothing.

Btw I’ve been thinking on this since Con Zero (I got to be a player in a couple PBTA games) and I found myself running into the same predicament of being nervous about choosing bonds because of how they impact other players’ perceptions of their characters.

And I realized it’s not just the bonds.
Finally had a chance to sit down and start incorporating feedback from Metatopia.

One of my biggest learnings was that, when you give players bond prompts with other players, you should make them something the players actually want to take.

And not, you know, catty soap opera relationship bonds.

This right here is the core of the whole thing

If you love doing A thing you give a shit about it and try to get better at it

The actions, practice and effort matter

But people have been trained that "output" is more important than process
Like, the very first rule of doing anything at all creative is *you have to give a fuck about it*

Using genAI is proof you don't.

I’m still working my way through Silksong, but I’m so blown away by the boss design. In terms of quality, nearly every single boss in Silksong is head-and-shoulders above nearly all the bosses in Hollow Knight.

Like if the Mantis Lords were in Silksong, they’d be just another boss.

The state of Polygon is pretty dire. There’s a full length article for the DM university that doesn’t spend a second considering how much of a scam the whole thing is.

I almost hope that it’s an undisclosed advertisement because then the lack of journalistic integrity would at least have a reason.

Here is my hot tip for how to use Chat GPT to write in your own voice.

Step 1: Open chatgpt dot com
Step 2: In the "Ask Anything" text field, just write in your own voice.
Step 3: Never hit enter or engage the AI.
Step 4: Copy what you wrote out of the text field and paste it where ever you need.

It’s so funny that Nate Bargatze was, like, having a moment there for a while where so many people were hyping him up as the next big thing in comedy.

Cause he’s like, fine. I’d even say yeah, he’s funny.

But I’ve never heard a joke of his and thought, “Oh I got to remember that.”

AI is trying to both sell us on technology that “just works” with natural language… while also telling us that we need to modify how we talk to best suit the AI.

The end result is unclear functionality based around assumptions you have to learn, which is so frustrating.
