One reason Japanese video games are better in general than American video games at being art or communicating valuable messages is largely because of the outcome of World War II. I think the only major exception is Red Dead Redemption 2

Araki’s body of work is so essential and what he represents as a queer asian cali punk who made pop movies on his own terms made me everything i am, but as time has gone on and i have actually been able to speak with him, i’ve realized we have very different experiences, worldviews, and concerns

It is kind of funny i aged out of Gregg Araki being my favorite filmmaker. Of course he is still fundamental to me and i think Nowhere and Mysterious Skin are two of the greatest films ever made, but the fact is i got older and the characters he is concerned with never pass 30

Kinda funny that Mulan’s inclusion in Kingdom Hearts 2 is a planet called “Land of Dragons” but it’s just still China. It’s still China. It’s China Planet. Planet China. Sora, Donald, and Goofy are like “WE GOTTA GO TO CHINA”. Video games are Incredible

I think it’s kinda genius Kojima got no less than 5 international film directors he admires to lend their likenesses to his game but they are all voiced performed by near (or more palatable) sound-alikes. Like had anyone done that before? No why would they? Also, who’s next?
