It's pretty clear that LLMs will not lead to AGI a la @garymarcus.bsky.social.

However, the bigger question is, could present neoliberal regimes respond to the dislocation of AGI given their animus to the welfare state?

The answer is no, which is why we need #UBI, #MEDICARE4ALL, & #FREEEDUCATION.

FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

The most hilarious part of this story is that no one yet accepts the high probability that Trump never makes it to his 80th birthday.

In a few months, when Trump realizes his Potemkin village has been found out the caption of this cartoon should read, "Now, look what you're making me do!"

I'm about eight minutes into the #Trump speech and think the only thing lacking are some inflatable, flailing arm displays.

Wouldn't be hilarious if Trump didn't make it to his 80th birthday next June and then Biden lived until he was a hundred?

I need someone to point me to an article that plausibly explains the belief that GDP will grow by 3% in 2026. I just can't see it. 🤔

@carlquintanilla.bsky.social you got anything?

Just heard on PBS that Barron Trump is a fan of the Tate brothers, the two guys being investigated in three different countries for rape and sex trafficking.

I'm sad mostly because it doesn't surprise me at all. 😔

This is not a story of empowerment (pun intended).

This is a story of desperation against an economic system we've decided cannot be countered by public, democratic action.

Things need to change!

I've always thought of Maher as a thirsty comic, the kind that laughs too much at his own jokes when the audience offers only a light guffaw.

This scene makes Maher look as thirsty as ever, desperate for Joe Rogan-level popularity while going for the pseudo-intellectual gravity of Jordan Peterson.
Bill Maher: "The truth never makes me uncomfortable, it only exhilarates me."
Ana Kasparian, coyly: "Wanna talk about Gaza, get exhilarated? I can exhilarate you."
Maher: "You're gonna say genocide, you don't know what the word means."
Ana: "I'm Armenian, I know what the word means."

Michael Connelly has a new novel out in which the world of tech, AI, and the incel world collide. It illustrates one dangerous aspect of #TheAIGrift, it's potential to corrupt the mind of the young into doing stupid shit.
