tv tropes taught a whole generation of readers to mistake basic pattern recognition for gotcha criticism and a whole generation of writers to feel insecure every time they came up with an idea that happened to be in conversation with other ideas

I followed him on Twitter for a while before I moved to Bluesky, so I always knew that Phil Vischer was a chill guy.

One of the sadder stories I learned was that Eric Metaxes, who co-wrote the scripts of some episodes, cut ties with Vischer in 2021 after political differences between him -

I had no idea the creator of VeggieTales was a chill guy. Most people I know of who make explicitly Christian media tend to be crazies.

Also, this series of tweets really highlights just how wild the Book of Revelation is. There's a reason Aphrodite's Child's 666 turned out the way it did.

- him (a VERY vocal Trump supporter) and Vischer (a vocal critic of Trump), which resulted not only Phil, but also any family members blocked from his Twitter. Phil felt upset about it after being good friends with him since 1999.

Hampsterdance started as a friendly bet between Canadian artist Deidre LaCarte and her sister. She made a page of animated hamsters set to a chipmunked loop of Whistle Stop from Disney’s Robin Hood (1973). Within months, it took over inboxes & office desktops.
