I don't even fucking know anymore. I guess I do tech when I'm employed, I'm Jewish and my body hates me.

We're blame aware now, not blameless. So, we're aware that all the blame for lack of refreshments lies with Paul.
I'd normally agree with you, but I haven't seen his face since your birthday, so its not been giving me anything.

I wrote my most personal blog post to date.

It summarizes some of my personal feelings and experiences in the Ruby/Rails community.

It also might in some cases be, "a person working at this company worked on this report on company time and getting their logo on as a sponsor is how they made that happen."
Happy to share what I know in any less public place! The early and mid periods of the devops movement were organic and weird and there's a lot a lot of oral history and you're totally write that somebody should collate it at some point.
Especially for Cat coming newer to this, there's also the whole schism that happened between the DORA folks and the Puppet folks that then resulted in two State of Devops reports with different goals (which iirc happened before DORA was purchased by Google?)

My house is going to be the it house for Halloween this year.
We can do that when we've decided we're done reinventing release engineering.
I feel like its not necessarily that we forgot the user, but that those of us that cared about and advocated for the user (yourself coming to mind) got drowned out by people who did not.

Any remote (US) volunteer/part-time paid opportunities in criminal justice reform/transformative justice? Particularly interested in counteracting the use of police surveillance tools. My background is in sociology, computer science, and public interest technology. #JobSearch #NonProfitJobs
The last 5-10 years of devops have just been people reinventing what was done in the prior 10 years of tech but without having an understanding for the actual underlying context or design decisions that were made, and still thinking that they know and have done better.
I AM REPURPOSING AND SYNTHESIZING NEW CONTENT INTO THE GENERAL TOPIC LIKE A GOOD DEVOP
MY NEXT CONFERENCE TALK WILL BE TITLED "DEVOPS ISN'T DEAD, I'M JUST SO TIRED OF HAVING THIS CONVERSATION WITH YOU, YOU AREN'T LISTENING"
SOME OF THEM THINKS IT MEANS CI INSTEAD OF TERRAFORM. WHICH IS EXTRA DISTRESSING TO ME SINCE CI PREDATES DEVOPS BY QUITE A BIT.
Once there are fewer holes in the fence, you can also maybe put a lip on the exterior that will make it more difficult to climb over (depending on fence material).
Yeah, I go back and forth on that. It often feels like if we dont use at least similar language, people will go out of their way to pretend its not at least a similar problem or has echoes of lessons of things we already know.
"We've learned and acknowledged that we have a lack of understanding of Black history and that racism has been structurally built into our society and belief system, but that couldn't possibly also be the case for this other group that's been oppressed for ~2k years."
Yeah. Kinda frustrated with having bought my laptop from them now. Was really excited about the mission to make laptops more easily repairable and upgradable.
Alternatively, I like the idea of a tattoo of your headshot with you holding the diet coke can.
Do you have a tattoo of a diet coke can on you yet?
Them: But you can control how you feel about a situation.

Me: Sure, if I get a lobotomy.
I stopped using it after people told me to die because I didn't want to follow a hashtag to find new people. I really don't want to go back.
I mean, I'm willing to believe in the role of CEO being something that should be considered an architect of a system (or at least part of a system), but its certainly not the system she thinks it is.
