Part of what's happening now was laid out by Stephen Miller on a podcast with Charlie Kirk in early 2024, then shortly after in an article on Feb 8 from The Atlantic. Trump's court losses only lead to further blurring of the lines between "legal" and overt dictatorial power.

It is a very common occurance for a fascist to get doxxed and immediately ask for help getting out of extremist groups. Consequences are a huge motivator... and while exiting because of consequences is not ideal if one is truly trying to change (because it is more about the consequences), it works.
