The more the current government shits on education, the more I'm interested in hearing Labour's repeal list.

No more Treaty obligations? Just political appointments to the Teaching Council?
Curriculum written by A.I.?

It's the Trumpification of education.
Make NZ Dumb Again

My thoughts on how the new curriculum was invented.

Thinking I might put in an OIA request to see how on point I am
Someone is quoted in this article as suspecting foreign contractors of developing these curricula. I'll go one step further - I'll bet some PR types upload the UK, Aust, various US, and maybe the Canadian curricula to an AI bot with the prompt, "summarise these into one document"
NZ educators are not having it.
Then charged the got a couple of mill.

Maybe they added the current NZ curriculum into the upload so they'd get some of the NZ bits.

I've rescued a few bits.
I'm going to take it down now.

The Northern Expressway we were told would cost $10 billion is now priced at $18 billion, or six times the Cook Strait crossing we were told was unaffordable. This is fantasy stuff. www.nzherald.co.nz/northern-adv...
Game-changer: New $18b expressway endorsed to boost jobs and road safety
The Northland Expressway from Te Hana to Whangārei is expected to boost Northland.

4) Will the minister release official advice outlining the detrimental effects of their planned changes to education policy in Aotearoa New Zealand?
#NZstrike #Megastrike
2) How many years experience has the minister had as an educational researcher?
3) Is the minister's only experience of a school setting either when they were at school, or when their children attended school?
#megastrike #nzstrike
Here are the questions I'm going to send to some ministers after I get off here:
1) How many years experience has the minister had as either a learning assistant, classroom teacher, or curriculum leader within a school?
#megastrike #nzstrike
All class - I tell you, a bear head to replace the snow leopard head would certainly add to the talking points.
#deathrug
Potentially #megastrike may also be a hashtag people are watching...
Sadly, the red weather warning ❗has curtailed my efforts to march in the #nzstrike day today. Canterbury actions have been called off, so I will have to send my aroha to public sector colleagues marching in other centres.
This government's education policy is not going to end well. That I can tell you.
#nzstrikes
I wonder how the Beehive spins this. I suspect they will use similar talking points Republicans did towards the #nokings marches on the weekend.

We'll be dubbed radical leftist antifa types.

They'll probably send out Her Majesty Dame Judith Collins, KC, to do the grubby stuff.

πŸ€“ When there is a large pressure difference between places then you can expect strong winds between them.

Tuesday peaked at 32.5hPa difference between Auckland & Invercargill.

Thursday could see that pressure difference exceed 40hPa!

- conferences (uLearn used to be in the "hols" - does this mean these conferences wouldn't be held any more because the govt would rather we learn how to teach their new curriculum?)
- assessing previous term's work
- school trip (national MTB champs last "hols")
- spending time with my whānau (sometimes we do go away, so technically a holiday, I suppose. My wife has to take annual leave).
Things that I usually do in the "holidays"
- recover from the previous term (usually a couple of days)
- illness (sometimes the first week, although I was off the whole last week of Term 2 with illness. It got to me before the "hols")
- planning for next term
I'm wondering if @pptanz.bsky.social did a poll of members to see how many considering leaving the profession if the government gets there way on callbacks during non-contact hours currently known as "the holidays"
