If you ever continue this project, I actually have a future US Doctor pitch: Bryce Pinkham. Theater actor, known out of those circles as the voice of Stolas from Helluva Boss. Something about him I can see be both a fun & moody romantic Doctor, like Five but with more energy.

58. Winnie The Pooh: Boo To You!
For something Not-So-Scary, this special is a fun little excursion involving the 100 Acre Woods gang. Something to watch whether it's Halloween or Hallow-wasn't.

Wait, no. Apparently "Pooh's Very Best & Very Bravest Friend" is a flower. Or maybe Piglet realized that title can't be something made into a costume & improvised. Odd that Owl isn't in this one, but I guess they couldn't find Hal Smith's replacement yet. Take us home, Arturo...

Tigger: "You never figured out what you're gonna be, Piglet!"
Piglet: "Actually, Tigger, I did. I decided I'd like to go as "Pooh's Very Best & Very Bravest Friend."
You're gonna be Sora?

So, none of them know what really happened but they think Piglet scared the "spookable" so now he feels more confident. And Gopher gets a costume that isn't just dressing up as one of his friends to cap off that running gag.

When we first see Piget in this, he made like monster mannequin to use to try & psyche himself so he can not be afraid. And here, he tries making into a mini-mecha/exosuit. It quickly goes off the rails, but points for trying.

And on the topic of The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, the final third of this basically becomes an episode of that. Piglet mistakes Pooh, Tigger, & Eeyore's ghost costumes asreal "spookables" & runs for it. Then they think he's been kidnapped, these comical misunderstandings go on from there.
therealdoneast.bsky.social
On the topic of Heffalumps (or however it's spelled), near the end some in Tigger's song are just reused models of a family of them from the first season of NAoWtP. And I think this was just Disney had still had reference models to use from left over from nearly a decade ago.

He has a fun musical number discussing how much he loves scaring himself that tries to give surreal visuals akin to the famous "Huffleumps and Woozels" sequence.

No, really, these shots are from a Winnie The Pooh cartoon from Disney. Honesty, most episodes of the New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh can be a "No, really this happened" moment.

Piglet, don't want to alarm you, but if those trees are alive, you're either in the Evil Dead or Middle Earth. For your sake, it better be the latter, Gimli's the narrator in this & he can help you.

...
Tigger, not gonna lie, liking where you're going with your Jack-O-Lantern drawings
therealdoneast.bsky.social
You know, Rabbit, you really shouldn't have part of your fence be a painted cel when the rest of your fence is painted into the background if you're afraid someone breaking it.
therealdoneast.bsky.social
Of course Pooh's bee costume has an ulterior motive of trying to see if he pass himself off as a real bee to get honey. I wonder if the bee being the ones from the ABC series is a callback or the animators just using references they had leftover from that?
therealdoneast.bsky.social
Or maybe I'm distracted by this framed photo he has of Pooh, Tigger, & Eeyore that changes between shots and both have coloring errors. Also, I know Eeyore can smile, but it just adds to it off this looks.

So, the main conflict centers on Piglet's fear of, well, anything scary and he has a song about how he wants to be with his friends this Halloween. But, I dunno, it doesn't hit. Maybe it's because John Fiedler had a pretty distinct voice & it's obvious that's not him singing.

The animation for this has some pretty fluid movements, particularly this scene with Gopher.

Yes, Disney's version of Winnie The Pooh had a Halloween special. It was in 1996, one of those specials that felt like an episode of New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh in terms of production values but tweaked to stand on its own. It does have John Rhys-Davies as the narrator, that's pretty neat.

I find it kinda funny how one episode of SuperFriends where Gorilla Grodd is a villain working on his own accord but Giganta acts as his minion. It’s like they predicted the DCAU doing this dynamic, or it’s a nod to this, who knows.

Let's close this thread with two IPs that are major Halloween icons: the Monster Cereals & Scooby Doo. From like the final years when Count Chocula, Frankenberry, & Boo Berry were cereal you'd find all year round instead of a seasonal release. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea4f...
