These are from my comedy feature spec,📽 LIARS: A full-of-himself-but-gutless screenwriter is drafted by an “undercover mercenary botanist" to help save the world from the most dangerous lawn care product ever!

FADE IN: EXT. L.A. STREETS - DAY All’s quiet. Then - a beat-up old Chevy speeds by, red siren light on top... INT./EXT. BEAT-UP OLD CHEVY (MOVING) A young, hip black guy, BUDDY CHAMBERS drives. An older Republican-looking white guy, Dan "BONES" Tanner, in the passenger seat. Both cops are tense... BONES What the hell do you mean we don't have a choice? BUDDY Think of it like this: you go skydiving- BONES (interrupting) Do I look like I'm going skydiving? BUDDY Just say you do! You get in that plane- BONES I don't even like getting into an SUV! I'm not going up in an airplane! BUDDY Mutherfucker! Could you just pretend you were born after the invention of flight? BONES Fine. I'm skydiving. (a beat) But I'm not. BUDDY (sigh) You up in a plane, got the gear on, the instructor pushes your ass out 'cause you're such a goddamned pu‐‐ BONES You know I don't like that word. BUDDY Pushover! A goddamned pushover. Point is, you floatin' through the sky like Secret Agent Oh-Oh Seven, you ain't gonna suddenly change your mind. It's been started. BONES (agreeing) It's been started. BUDDY And you gotta finish it! BONES (agreeing) Gotta finish it! BUDDY And that's what I'm doin'! BONES Makes perfect sense. Now stop the car. I'm pullin' rank. Bones pulls his gun. Chambers presses harder on the gas - The two eye one another. EXT. GUN CLUB PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS Charging into lot - the car's not slowing... INT./EXT. BEAT-UP OLD CHEVY - SAME SECOND (MOVING) BUDDY (serious) I gotta do this, Dan. And I gotta do it my way. You know? BONES (sighs) Yeah. Shit. Bones lowers his weapon and hangs on tight! Car speeds up. POV from car: We see - Large window of gun club... A big man chomps a cigar, smiles satisfactorily - he notices something coming at him. His eyes grow wide. BACK TO SHOT. The Buddy Cops' car is inevitably going to plow straight through the wall of the complex... ANGLE ON: car - it zooms past the camera...WE SEE Bones holding on and WE SEE/HEAR Buddy laughing maniacally as we... PAN RIGHT - END FANTASY SEQUENCE - AND FALL ONTO: INT. HOME OFFICE - NIGHT EXTREME CLOSE of COMPUTER SCREEN, SOUND of typing - on the PC: The car crashes straight through until finally coming to a stop in the firing range. ANGLE ON: the writer of this action flick - LESLIE NALINSKY. 20s/30s, not bad to look at but nerdy, nebbishy, and ever- enveloped in himself and the worlds he creates. He pauses... LESLIE (excited) Oh! (types) Buddy smiles and says... FANTASY SEQUENCE: INT./EXT. CAR - DAY ANGLE ON BUDDY - but it's not Buddy's voice we hear. BUDDY (CARA V.O.) Leslie, can you put on some pants, Jenny and Tim will be here soon. Bones reacts with a confused sneer. END FANTASY SEQUENCE.

Collecting comics for ~2 yrs, my buddy had been scrounging for Miller's whole run. I went a dif't way: Owner at my LCS said he'd get the whole run w/💵i in advance, so I asked my WHOLE family for ONE gift for the holidays. They were like "You're SURE?"😁

Don't recall LET THERE BE BLOOD well enough to critique Dano,but i DO remember thinking, while great, it was overrated.

Dano was perfect in Little Miss Sunshine, watchable in Swiss Army Man but utterly unremarkable in everything else I've seen. Can't argue w/Tarantino.🤷‍♂️

The most surprising thing about this movie, one of the earliest of the slasher movies (made domestically), is how cleverly it does the thing that became a terrible trope later on: The characters get separated...but in a way that's actually 100% organic to the story!
