It was my birthday, and I broke a destructive cycle by allowing myself to celebrate it. It felt so good to allow myself to be celebrate, breaking years of guilt thinking it was selfish and bad to want to be celebrated. It feels good. Thanks to @indigonanu.bsky.social for the gift of my new pfp 💝

For me it was Michael Sheen's Raymond Williams Memorial lecture. That pushed me to research Welsh Independence more, and the sheer imbalance of power that lies in Westminster. Then COVID struck and I watched a billion pound supermarket tell my partner she wasn't allowed to wash her hands at work.
Since there's some "what radicalized you" conversation going around this morning. It was generally a mixture of this event, growing up poor in Appalachia, and surviving the 90's while a queer kid.
Prompted by this, I wanted to highlight the movement I went from "well, most cops are still trying to help" to "ACAB."
It was watching Cincinnati police do a drive-by shooting into a funeral after a week of terrorizing minority neighborhoods.

So, about a day into testing and things are... interesting. A post using nothing but pictures of my work including a picture of the URL garnered some 40 notes, my little sideblog technique garnered almost 20. But in that whole time? The story on AO3 has hit 130 reads!

I really wish I could stop caring about the metrics of what I do. But the stupid decisions made by the owners of certain websites make that so very hard. Tumblr was where I grew my audience, but anything I post with a link is just nixed. I am getting annoyed-
