There is the only bus stop and post box across the road. The road just so happens to be the A350 & it is nigh on impossible and dangerous to cross. It is also a large residential area and the locals have repeatedly asked for either a crossing or at the very least bring the speed limit down🤬

Quite so - 20mph is becoming essential and as you say, proven to be reducing accidents and fatalities.

I live on the borders in a village 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and we were given a vote on the speed limit. We chose 20mph. The only people who I know to be whinging about it are all right wingers. But it's made for a drastic reduction in road kill locally, and the national picture re. traffic-related deaths is astounding.

Agree Simon. We visit Wales fairly often and to be fair drivers generally obey the limits there; in fact getting used to driving at those sensible speeds makes the whole experience far more relaxing.

20mph should be standard in built up areas as per Wales.

Yes I agree completely, as we live in a similar location. It would help if every driver stuck to the speed limits - but that's never going to happen. So much traffic now you literally run a gauntlet every time you leave the house on foot, on a bike or in a car. 😳🤷‍♂️

Exactly! Also make the roads more pedestrian friendly. I live in a small market town (it's a 12 minute walk to the shops). The pavements (or lack of) are a joke. The speed limit in 40mph, narrow pavements and no crossings. Lorries and transport carriers whizzing past literally within 2 feet or so.

We've been governed by self-serving entitled bastards for decades - in this year of 2025 they've cemented their power and are unlikely to ever be deposed. These austerity policies and 'health concerns' for the well being of the population are patently UTTER BULLSHIT. #Onepartystate

Lots of people will happily drink a diet coke, but I don't think many are buying it because it's a couple of pence cheaper. It's hardly comparable to the tax on a pack of fags is it?

My mum ordered a new freezer from AO and when the delivery van came, it did not have a tail lift - apparently the company won't pay for them

The two guys were expected to lift freezers, washing machines etc off the back of the van themselves...which does not seem safe

This guy can GTFO
There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

All part of the plan to steer the UK to corporatism/fascism. One continuous economic and foreign policy from Tories to Labour to Reform. Entrap, impoverish and enslave in a fully privatised corporatist hellscape of SEZs and freeports.
Why, you might ask, do the BBC and Sky News, casting their editorial guidelines to the wind, keep giving massive airtime to the far right, while shutting out leftwing voices? Don't their bosses understand the likely consequences?
Only one explanation now remains.
They do.
And it is what they want.
