I listened to the arguments in the tariffs case. Everyone knows the one. As usual, I was hung up for about the first five minutes about how they always call the Solicitor General "General," as if it's a military position. I will never be able to accept that tradition.

New Rankin/Bass animated special dropped in Chicago, titled "The Year the Leaves Didn't Get Picked Up," starring Dick Shawn as ICE Miser.

Here's a nice clip only a few days old about the Horseshoe Curve, which I have visited several times. It's cool. Coincidentally, I am wearing my Altoona Curve (baseball team) t-shirt today.

So now we pretty much know that "the law" is whatever one wants it to be, as long as one has the physical might to back it up. Right? I began suspecting as much during my first year of law school, but it no longer feels like callow cynicism.

When an ad tells me I have a "complimentary gift waiting," the redundancy irritates me. If they have such a thick dossier of info about me, they should know that ahead of time.

If the Brewers face the Mariners in the World Series, I'd like to see Milwaukee wear throwback Seattle Pilots uniforms for at least one game. Seattle vs Seattle.

The brutality is real and an outrage, a tragedy. But the interactions between pols & parties are "works," a la pro wrestling. Pritzker decries federalization of the Nat. Guard but looks the other way as state cops help the fascists. Then Trump threatens to arrest JB, which wins him sympathy points.
Who do they report to @jbpritzker.bsky.social.
Troopers just violently attacked protesters, tackled several, several arrests, shoving activists and press with batons.

Thune has a higher opinion of the Democratic Party than I do. Because I don't believe they'd do any of these things. Doing good is not their style.
Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "

Every time I see the word "waffles" around here lately, I think of this. For some (or no) reason.
a cartoon of a girl in a wheelchair with the words gobbles below her
Alt: A snip from a "South Park" cartoon of Timmy dressed contrabinaraily in a wheelchair, pointing at a pathetically (yet comically) sick turkey, with the subtitle "GOBBLES!" at the bottom, indicating that the sick turkey is named Gobbles.

I'm trying not to have pet peeves about word things, but this is one of mine that I haven't been able to squelch.
Y'know I'm not supposed to say that word things are correct or incorrect because that's classist and snobby and gatekeeping etc.?

"Woah" is incorrect.
How about doing your copy editing better?

In an era of political lies, this is a particularly juicy one. Chef's kiss. Time for progressives to move on to the next false savior.
State, county, and local law enforcement have been working together and coordinating to ensure public safety around the Broadview ICE facility, and to protect people’s ability to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights.
