The people who have been treating "Born in the USA" as a patriotic anthem for 40+ years shouldn't really be complaining about song lyrics they can't understand.

Joe Montana looks like a shoebill stork. This is not a shit post.

I identify completely with the first three sentences, but the friend who's always sending me videos, no matter how many times I tell them that I prefer text, is a boomer.

Is that a ski jumper in your pants, or are you just happy to gain a competitive edge over me?

I'm so old that the name of my current favorite punk band is Jeg Husker Ikke.

I asked the ghost of Jean Baudrillard for his thoughts about the current state of the Democratic Party and he refused to admit that he existed. "That makes two of you," I said.

We are extremely close to the collapse of the constitutional order.
Apologies, wrong link in the first post (there are two letters).

Correct link here: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I suggest reading in full…it’s really something. The judge, by the way, is a Bush appointee and two-time Scalia clerk.

The object of the donors and influencers (oligarchs) backing the current administration is not just to destroy the U.S. government but to destroy *government* as an imaginably plausible concept. They're not cagey about it. They've come right out and said it many times.

A few days ago, an old TV was abandoned on the corner. As of this evening, someone has scavenged the guts and left the plastic casing behind like a peanut shell dropped on a tavern floor.

Will tonight be the (a) night when it matters that the Bears are a bad football team with a too-cute coach? Stay tuned. But also, I'm guessing yes.

USDA chief touting the affordability of cold cereal:

"Toucan Sam as cheaply as one."
January 17, 2026 at 10:53 PM
This USDA farce today is I mean mwah chef's kiss because they keep finding new ways to flabbergast. I mean, struggle cuisine is a whole genre in YouTube cookery land. Plus many examples from WW2, if they want to propagandize privation. They are such shit at everything.

POTUS, immediately following the invasion.

"Wait a minute, this land isn't GREEN!"

Richie Cunningham and Ralph Malph were advance men for the upcoming invasion by the USA. They joined the army and left Milwaukee for Greenland, and Richie married and impregnated Lori Beth over the phone, and that's just canon. Jerry Paris directed it. Later Richie helped JD Vance become VP.

In 5th grade, I got mad at a school bus driver and flipped her the bird. That was the one and only time I got called into the principal's office for a scolding. I guess rank has its privileges.

I'm a Bears fan by default. There were always Bears players living in my hometown. Mike Ditka's son went to my high school (a year behind me). But think it's been about 20 years since I allowed myself to invest any emotional attachment in them. They win, OK. They lose, I can see the humor in it.

Wondering when classic rock acts are gonna come out with branded compression socks. "For those about to receive improved lower-body circulation, we salute you!"

The way they cram "affordability" in there is weird. These "adventures" are bad things that should be stopped. Period. Also, I want Trump to address his address, as in making it not 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Plus, "We'll make food cheaper first and THEN invade" is an implication that doesn't entice me.
Krishnamoorthi: I think that Trump not addressing what Americans want him to address—which is affordability—and instead engaging in these reckless military adventures abroad, really presents a stark choice for the American people as to what type of governance they want: Trump’s governance or ours

According to Clearsky, I'm only on one blocklist (so far), but I'm glad to be on it. I would have volunteered to be on it, in fact.
