The last time I posted the income relationship to presidential vote among White respondents to the @electionstudies.bsky.social ANES, people asked for additional estimates among all voters.

Updated estimates here:

JUST OUT: "Boundaries and Cleavages: Elements of a Cultural Sociology of Political Divides."

OA: direct.mit.edu/ecps/article...

It develops what the cultural sociology of group formation can contribute to research on political cleavages.

(And why "Somewheres vs Anywheres" really doesn't cut it.)

Even in times of sociocultural conflict, a progressive left electorate is more averse to sociocultural *and* socioeconomic inequalities than (far) right voters.

nice analysis of animal gender in children’s books
mellymeldubs.bsky.social
For the @puddingviz.bsky.social, I explored which animals we gender, and why.

Come for the extremely cute interactive viz of animals, stay for the extremely nerdy etymology of the ladybug.

Guten Morgen deutsche Medien:

New article out in World Politcs. We analyze how different groups react to varying programs of social democratic parties. We find less trade-offs than often assumed. Generally, more left-progressive programs increase support among social democratic potentials

Congratulations to Posit on the Positron IDE exiting beta!

This is huge for #python and #rstats data scientists - having a unified, modern IDE that speaks both languages fluently. Can't wait to see how this accelerates data science workflows!

Try it out here: positron.posit.co/download.html

Our newest piece on BSW is now published. We show that when attitudes toward Wagenknecht come into the game, policies are no longer that meaningful in predicting behaviour. Personalisation in a personalised party! What a surprise! 😀

🚨 Are young women becoming more left-wing & young men more right-wing?
We analyzed 32 European countries (1990–2023).
📊 Some show growing gaps—others don’t.
📊 Gaps tend to be bigger where gender equality is higher.
