You should be very proud of yourself, Ben. You have had a difficult time, with a lot of challenges, but you have grown into a very nice young man. That counts for a lot.

This strikes me as a pretty major Brexit shift from Starmer.

Perhaps the beginning of 'Brexit is sh1t and has caused real economic damage'.

Why is Boris Johnson never held to account? We know he is a liar, dishonest and completely unethical, based on his past behaviour, but he carries on behaving like that because he gets away with it. He is still enriching himself by breaking the rules . www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Boris Johnson breached rules designed to stop abuse of contacts made in public office, watchdog finds
Johnson found to have breached rules after refusing to answer specific questions about allegations published by the Guardian

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season.

TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible.

I am delighted to share that Nobel laureates Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee will join our Department of Economics @econ.uzh.ch at the University of Zurich on July 1, 2026, as Lemann Foundation Professors of Economics.

Ghislaine Maxwell's father, Robert allegedly distributed a bugged version of PROMIS software to numerous national govts & global financial institutions that enabled mass spying by Mossad & the Israeli govt. You can bet everything that Epstein/Maxwell had on Trump, Israel has too. He's their puppet.

Either that or blowing up a few more Venezuelan fishermen out of spite.

Interesting how the USA, via Gavin Newsom, the satirical press and TV programmes, and people power, has found the chink in the far-right armour. They cannot cope with ridicule. Taking the moral high ground is nowhere near as effective as treating them as the clowns they are. We need this in the UK.

I dont understand why Labour can't take a leaf out of Sadiq Khan's (or Andy Burnham's) book. Position yourself a million miles away from Reform's/Tory divisive rhetoric and policies. Celebrate diversity. Make it hard for the Greens to challenge by supporting the poor and improving the environment 🤷‍♀️

Congratulations indeed to pro-democracy campaigner Maria Corina Machado.
I can't help but think this will prompt a furious Donald Trump to blow a few more Venezuelan fishermen out of the water, though.

Congratulations to Maria Corina Machado, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize - her incredible optimism has already changed her country. I spoke to her, and wrote about her, at the beginning of this year:

Maduro is still in place, but a pro-democracy movement is transforming the beleaguered country.

The Nobel Peace Prize should never go to anyone who sanctions taking food from starving children.

Ugh...reminds me of the Top of the Pops albums that promised so much but delivered the world's worst cover versions of that year's hits. I remember spending all my saved pocket money on one and feeling absolutely robbed.

Zia Yusuf doesnt seem to realise that the 'foreigners' who are on Universal Credit in this country are largely receiving it because they are working in areas of shortage, such as health and social care, where pay is notoriously and unfairly low. #bbcqt

I could watch Zack Polanski utterly wreck Zia Yusuf ALL DAY LONG.
thornfieldhall.bsky.social
Zia Yusuf has listened to numerous people in the #bbcqt audience telling him they are fine with, and even welcome, immigrants. He had one person tell him directly to stop talking about immigrants...and STILL Yusuf is banging on about them. Read the room mate - get some proper policies.
thornfieldhall.bsky.social
This #bbcqt audience is quite enlightening and enlightened. They aren't taking any of Jenrick or Zia Yusuf's racist sh1te. I do think 'normal' folk have just had enough of politicians using migrants and especially refugees as political footballs. How about solving the country's real problems?

'Sleeping Centurion,' (c1765) is a preparatory sketch for a sleeping soldier in Ubaldo Gandolfi's fresco of the Resurrection, painted in the eleventh chapel of the Portico di San Luca, Bologna. The fluid brushstrokes achieve a work of intimacy and great charm.

Amazed this is still going ahead - basic and obvious problem is that essentially everything local government does now is for the poor. You can’t move it around without really hurting poor people somewhere!

Nobody who condones this behaviour should get within a thousand miles of a Nobel Peace Prize.
