I agree. I guess my main point is that they aren’t worth it even from a numbers perspective. Their entire Air Force is like 2K personnel. The USAF has over 300K active duty personnel. That’s not counting guard, reserve, and civilians. Wasted effort and resources imo.

Idk if I’d call Qatar hostile. They’ve hosted our military for decades. Al Udeid was a major hub and staging area for our wars in the region.
However, Qatar shouldnt own a facility on one of our bases in the US. We SHOULD be strengthening our alliances with NATO countries, not this.

Not that I’m aware of. Even if a foreign govt is training with us long-term I’ve never seen them have a facility they “own.” There may be a facility and US unit specifically dedicated to working with them, but they are guests in our country and on our bases.

Also, just for context. The US has nearly 2200 fighters. Qatar has 2,000 AF personnel. The US has over 300,00 Active Duty AF. That’s not counting guard, reserved, or civvies.

Paul. 20-yr AF vet here. I was stationed at Mtn Home during my career. Singaporean AF has been training there for decades.
Big takeaway for me is we have shunned NATO because they “don’t contribute enough.” But we’re strengthening a partnership w/ a country that has less than 100 fighter jets??
