A new PhD graduate from the Cold Molecules group! Huge congratulations to Felix Kogel for successfully defending his PhD with the highest distinction! Felix's doctoral hat includes an interactive replica of the #lasercooling experiment for new types of #precisionmeasurements described in his thesis!

My timelines are usually filled with pictures of either #quantum physics or mountains. What a unique opportunity to combine them both!

Approaching @apsphysics.bsky.social's #DAMOP2025 meeting in Portland, flying in right over the crater rim of Mt. St. Helens, with Mt. Adams in the background.

Barium charge radii in molecules do the (odd-even) twist: High-resolution spectroscopy of barium monofluoride that benchmarks theory, reveals nuclear properties and prepares the molecules for more efficient laser cooling along the way.

I recently had the honor of delivering my official inaugural lecture as a professor at @tuwien.at. It was a fantastic opportunity to share my group’s research in #quantum science and technology and connect with colleagues, students, and friends.

I'm excited for what lies ahead!

New crystal morphologies for #dipolar quantum matter

Dipolar atoms and molecules naturally self-assemble into droplet crystals, but did you know these #droplets can further transition into flawless monolayer crystals when interactions become strong enough?

Two levels are great for qubits, but molecules can take it to the next level—currently 112 of them, to be exact.

We've controlled this complexity to realize laser cooling of previously intractable 137BaF molecules, preparing them for sensitive tests of the Standard Model.

Enjoying a morning walk to teach my lecture at TU Wien's Master’s program in #Quantum Information Science and Technology.

No, this is not the lecture hall - but it's only a short walk away.

Join us next semester!
