You're more optimistic about the courage of the bar associations than I am. I hope you're right.

I think the Supreme Court and its defenders try to deny this blatant bias toward Trump by highlighting distinctions between cases—oh, you don't understand, student loan forgiveness was illegal while impoundment is permissible because [reasons]. But the big picture tells an undeniably damning story.

The media repeatedly referring to the Gaza peace deal as "Trump's plan" shows how deeply the personalization of power has taken root in the US. Trump's administration may have brokered the plan, but he did not himself negotiate it. In the past the press would have referred to a US-backed plan.

The idea that opposing fascism is being presented as a threat to Trump’s government tells you a lot about Trump’s government.

Is it too much to ask to have a president who has even just a limited grip on reality?

A government “official” wants to decide who can be called a pastor.
These MAGA cultists talk about freedom of religion all the time, but what they really mean is the right to exercise their own hate-filled faith without obstruction while showing no respect for anyone else’s religious beliefs.

A lot going on here, but a religion note: DHS Assistant Sec. Tricia McLaughlin refers to Rev. Black as a "pastor" here — using quotation marks.

It's a notable slight against a faith leader's status, as Black is, in fact, an ordained minister of a church operating within the Presbytery of Chicago.
This footage is from almost a month ago. What this clipped video doesn’t show is that these agitators were blocking an ICE vehicle from leaving the federal facility—impeding operations.

Over and over again, law enforcement ordered these agitators to move off of federal property so the vehicle could move. Law enforcement verbally warned these agitators that they would use force if they did not move and stop impeding operations. They did not comply.

Shortly after, rioters began throwing rocks, bottles and launching fireworks at the law enforcement officers on the roof.

At the time of this incident, this facility held criminal illegal aliens including gang members, drug traffickers, and other violent criminals. Obstructing law enforcement puts officers, detainees and the public at risk. If you are obstructing law enforcement you can expect to be met with force.

And, as an aside, this is the same “pastor” who flipped
@Sec_Noem
and our team the bird when we were there last week.

if you're willing to sacrifice some groups for your personal safety, i'm going to assume you'll sacrifice anyone. Either we all get humanity and rights or none of us will. Because nobody is voting for another centrist Dem trying to move the party right. that shit is over.

Starbucks lost me when they got rid of their donuts and scones last year. The remaining pastries suck. Who’s running this company?
timlongman.bsky.social
They weren’t fooling around when they closed 2 of the Starbucks on campus last week. Name gone, papered over windows. The company must be struggling if they can’t sell coffee on a college campus.
Of course there are still at least 3 left on campus…

Question: Why do pollsters screen for registered voters/likely voters on polls that have nothing to do with an election? If you notice, the polls that include all adults (A) have significantly lower approval ratings for Trump. How do other pollsters justify excluding the opinion of non-voters?

Reports on Pam Bondi's hearing are illuminating. She fully leans into the Trump approach: always attack, never apologize or offer a defense.
You would think that at least SOME Republicans would object to her complete disdain for Congress, but of course, that assumes a different GOP than we have.

I'm astounded how willingly the media follow Trump's playbook. They are uniformly reporting on "Trump's peace plan," rather than an "American-backed peace plan," as it would have been called in the past. Trump is neither the author nor the chief negotiator of this initiative.

Everyone is trying to have a normal Saturday night and the president's top advisor is on X announcing that civil war is necessary
@StephenM on X: Legal insurrection. The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.
