@skylight.social When will there be updates for Android users outside of the US? According to the play store this app was last updated May 5th, so we in the UK aren't getting any of the latest fixes and developments.

If you have a secret or hidden phone, the government's Emergency Alerts could reveal your device, even if it's on silent or do not disturb.

The government is testing emergency alerts on Sunday 7 September. If you're worried this could reveal a phone, you can follow this guide to turn off the alerts

How to keep your phone safe from Emergency Alerts.

Steps to secure your iPhone
1. Search your settings for 'emergency alerts'
2. Turn off 'Severe alerts' and 'Emergency alerts'
3. If this does not work, contact your device manufacturer.

Steps to secure your Android:
1. Search your settings 'emergency alerts'
2. Turn off 'Severe alerts' and 'Emergency alerts'
3. On Huawei devices running EMUI 11 or older, search your settings for ‘emergency alerts’ and turn off 'Extreme threats', 'Severe threats', and 'Show amber alerts'
4. If this does not work, contact your device manufacturer.

Other mobile phones and tablets:
Depending on your software version or phone manufacturer, emergency alert settings may be called different names. They could be called 'wireless emergency alerts' or 'emergency broadcasts'.

This is one of the best ideas I've heard in ages.

Reddit post on r/technology about young people and AI: "I recently heard about a teacher who instead of trying to circumvent students using AI, which is impossible, she made assignments by going "ask ChatGPT to write a report on this subject, and then research how and why it's wrong".

Not only did the students discover that ChatGPT is extremely wrong a lot of the time, it also lead them to realise that they should not use it as a primary source".

40 years ago today, I was behind the counter at Our Price Records in Wimbledon. Nobody was allowed to book the day off "because we were going to be inundated with customers". I don't recall a single customer after 11.30am. Monday was a different story! #LiveAid40
