This might be the one issue where the U.S. Congress is united: a demand that the World Anti-Doping Agency show greater transparency if it ever wants to see another penny from the United States. With my colleague Mike Rothstein:

For the crowd that followed Brittney Griner’s saga, here’s an exceptional piece by @danigilbert.bsky.social about what Marc Fogel’s recent release means for hostage diplomacy. It’s a significant shift. No one knows this topic better than Dani.

Marc Fogel, detained in Russia, is now free.
Is Marc Fogel’s release part of Trump’s Russia strategy? Hostage recovery is also a made-for-TV policy win.

The Democratic Republic of Congo making a moral appeal to the NBA to cut off its relationship with Rwanda. Really interesting from Mark Fainaru-Wada:

Had training on a good AI tool yesterday and heard again how it can save brain energy and spare us from tasks like thinking about what to write in an email or a thank-you note or any other mundane bit of writing. What struck me is that, for a writer, that’s like saying take the elevator and…

If their name is on it, I’m reading it. From @sethwickersham.bsky.social and @dvnjr.bsky.social about Dan Snyder’s life in football exile.
Latest from @dvnjr and me.
*How Dan Snyder views Commanders' run from afar: 'He f—-ing hates it'
*How Snyder tried to blow up the sale to Harris at the eleventh hour
*Nee stuff on legal cases, his life in London, and why Jerry Jones says "It was time for a divorce.”

Thinking about the time someone asked Bobby Valentine about Ichiro, who was still in Japan. He said, “he’s one of the five best outfielders in the world.”
I said, “as in Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr…”
“Yes.”

My god it was fun to be around Uecker. When you went to Milwaukee (preferably in the old park), getting a brat and sitting with or near him meant listening to the greatest storyteller/comedian you ever heard. He was part of what made the game great.
It’s the day we all hoped would never come. Bob Uecker, the voice of the Brewers for the last 54 years and “Mr. Baseball” to fans around the world, passed away overnight, according to his family and the team. He was 90.

Summers in Wisconsin will never be the same.

Covering Rickey Henderson was one of the great joys of my job. He was a genius. An alien. And somehow, despite holding the all-time records for stolen bases and RUNS SCORED, WHICH IS THE WHOLD DAMNED POINT OF THE GAME, I swear he’s under-appreciated.

Over the years I have built up a small collection of worksheets/guides for navigating life in graduate school. I'm happy to share them, and I would love to see other people's.

Anyone want to do a swap with me? Maybe we could create some kind of repository to share these resources more widely?

What’s amazing is people clearly told threads what they wanted to see and they still went with algorithmic engagement. This audience was there for the taking.
Despite a massive head start, BlueSky has now overtaken Threads in the US 👇
