Today's historic pic: Exactly forty years ago today, we see the railway station at Blayney, NSW, January 26 1986. Blayney is 290km west of Sydney by rail on the NSW Main West line. It is today served by the daily Sydney-Dubbo Central West XPT and the once weekly Broken Hill Outback XPLorer.

Nine years and ten months ago today, on March 25 2016, I started my 'Historic pic of the day' series with this Twitter post of a coupled set of Adelaide H type trams. So, two months from today, the series will reach its tenth birthday of daily posts. It has since expanded to BlueSky and elsewhere.

I think it's good to keep getting mad about evil and unjust things, if only to remind yourself and everyone else that these things are in fact evil and unjust. I don't think it's naive. Nor is it wise and sophisticated to adopt a "You fool, nothing matters and nothing good can ever happen" posture

Sometimes, just before bed something (TM) happens in another timezone that's awful and you're faced with going to bed with the void opening up before you...Then your brain remembers Tuff Dog going "sageru all you want, but nothing will break my Japanese spirit" and the void's on hold til the morning

At 285km from Melbourne on the main Melbourne to Albury and Sydney line, this station closed to passengers in the early-mid '80s, but the building, now semi-derelict, still stands today
