Haha, yeah it was odd. My work wasn’t at the level needed to secure a job at that time but wasn’t a great response.
His face was still plastered all over their website even a few years ago, and he continued to represent them at careers panels, so they were clearly fine with it. 😅

When I was a student I showed my portfolio to one of these guys at a convention. He was there representing his studio on careers panel. I printed out on paper incase phone signal was bad etc.
He pulled the papers out of the binder and dropped them on the floor whilst loudly announcing my work trash.

yeah same, I've not read many comics since I was young but really like his style. Deceptively simple but actually quite complex. He has a great understanding of shape and composition.
I also recommend the documentary "drawing monsters" which is about his work if you're interested 🙂
