Starting to put my new @bambulabglobal.bsky.social H2D 3D printer through its paces. Right away, the out-of-the-box print quality is WAY better than my experience with Prusa XL (using @polymaker.bsky.social filaments).

I'll be happy to relegate the XL to fewer prints if the H2D is up to the task!

It is impressively navigating date pickers, custom category drop downs, etc. But it is frustratingly inconsistent. It will nail the date picker 3x in a row, then flub it.

Manual oversight is required.

Once it is reliably consistent, tho, any menial data entry tasks are $200/month ($7/day).
Kicking the tires on OpenAI Operator. Slow, but impressive.

I gave it a CSV of transactions and asked it to add them to my QuickBooks Self Employed register. Two sentence prompt. And it’s methodically adding each transaction.

Add triggers and this could replace a lot of Zapier flows…🤔

So this means that if you use Siri and want better answers, you need to type “chatgpt" at the beginning of every query. You can of course make it grammatical by prepending “Ask ChatGPT ___” but then you have to type even more needless characters, each time.
I see many “business justification” emails in my future for this thing…😇
Nvidia just announced a $3,000 personal AI supercomputer called Digits. It looks like a Mac mini and can handle AI models with up to 200 billion parameters www.theverge.com/2025/1/6/243...

Bullets in vending machines? 🧐 They better be “El Ammo Bandito” #BioShock
Candy, ice and lottery tickets have long been impulse items sold at checkouts in American grocery stores. Now bullets are joining the list of merchandise peddled to consumers as they exit at a growing number of stores around the country.
Start-up putting ammo vending machines in grocery stores plans to grow
Dallas-based American Rounds says it makes selling ammo safer and more convenient, but some public officials and health experts worry about impulse bullet buying.

Build Plate needs regular cleaning to remove fingerprints and debris. For the PEI plate, use dish soap with a sponge or brush—alcohol won’t work and just spreads oil. Avoid acetone or ketone-based solvents, as they can damage PEI coating. wiki.bambulab.com/en/filament-acc/acc/pei-plate-clean-guide
I haven't logged-in to the Bsky web app before today (been using iOS app). And, wow. It's a *total* Twitter clone. Right down to the color scheme and rounded buttons.

Good artists copy, great artists steal?

Six predictions for AI in 2025 (and a review of how my 2024 predictions turned out):
The company making a niche web browser is…[checks notes]…making another, different web browser. 🤔

Just call it what it is: a pivot. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Oof. Not clear how a new CEO is going to fare better. Will be interesting to see Ben Thompson/Stratechery’s analysis this week…
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is "retiring," effectively immediately. Intel has named two co-CEOs while they search for a new CEO. Gelsinger is out at Intel just 3 years after his return, amid a turbulent period for the chipmaker www.theverge.com/2024/12/2/24...
Intel’s CEO is out after only three years
Another big change for Intel.

And with Thanksgiving done, it’s a quick sprint to Christmas. 23 days to finish your shopping. 🎁🎄😳
Working with generative AI tools reveals how poor we are at expressing our ideas. With other humans (especially close collaborators), we rely on “do what I mean, not what I say”.

I look forward to a time when ChatGPT and Copilot have the nuanced context and understanding.

Did you know? Black Friday is named in honor of Rebecca Black, who invented Friday in 2011.

In a world full of AI, authenticity will be the most valuable thing in the universe.
Low hanging fruit for growth hacking? 🤔
More companies are waking up to the potential of AI translation for driving growth.

Reddit confirmed that international Daily Active Users grew 44% year-over-year.

Since translated content is indexed in search engines, they are seeing an acceleration in top of the funnel traffic, too.

Impressive.

Saw #Moana2 last night with the fam. Everyone agrees it doesn’t measure up to the original, but it’s…fine. The kind of movie that would have been straight to VHS when we were kids.

If (when?) they make Moana3, bring back Lin Manuel Miranda.
