As we note in 'Shaping for Mediocrity': "Framing resistance in terms of negative emotions ... undermines the validity of any critique and denies the legitimacy of any alternative vision for the university. Everyone must move on – to the stages of acceptance and integration."

„When change leaders provide employees with the change curve to help them manage the emotions of change, it reinforces the view that employees should accept the change, whatever their reservations might be.“ (Holdsworth/Bridgman)

Yep, been through that.

Yes, although the 'research' evidence for the change curve is pretty shaky. More here ➡️ www.emerald.com/jocm/article...

My experience of university management using the Kübler-Ross change curve to help staff cope with a university restructure is not unique. Sadly.

Next was "A New History of Management" by Stephen Cummings, @toddbridgman.bsky.social, John Hassard, and Michael Rowlinson, who subvert the standard management history by going back to source material and the historical context. Highly recommend

And yes, other theories are not exactly how we were told. For example, Bridgman has a great paper on "transformational leadership" highlighting the original democratic values of this leadership style as proposed by Burns.
