The thing is, if you think Jesus *is* just a human teacher, then the Jesus you arrive at (having stripped out the supernatural bits, since you have to do that if you think he's merely human), isn't very likeable.
Young people have been culturally conditioned to read the Bible for moral lessons— “abstract ‘shoulds’ that strip stories of their theological depth and emotional power” — a new study reports.

RAND PAUL: If a country bombed our air defense missiles, captured & removed our president, & blockaded our country, would that be considered an act of war?

RUBIO: We just don't believe this operation comes anywhere close to the constitutional definition

PAUL: Of course it would be an act of war!

does anyone know of any literature criticising the methodology of empathy assessments in psychology (e.g., emotional recognition tests, etc.)? I'm especially looking for something on whether the technical senses of "empathy" measured by these tests capture the ordinary folk conception of empathy.

much of it sounds dated now, but at the time these three albums were a perfect run. also they're an interesting record of the development of 90s UK EDM from the breakbeat hardcore of raves to mainstream Britpop-era big beat

If you’re a Democrat looking to run for president in 2028, now would be a good time to find the nearest microphone and state clearly that you will prosecute every Trump Administration official enabling this state sponsored terrorism to the fullest extent of the law.

Walz: Minnesota's justice system will have the last word on this.

As I told the white house in no uncertain terms this morning, the federal government cannot be trusted to lead this investigation. The state will handle it. Period.

now - especially now - a reminder that we are going to win. and this is why
I attempted to go to an ICE patrol training here in LA this morning and they had to turn most of us away because of capacity issues and even as I was leaving I saw a ton more folks showing up

so that’s how well their attempts to scare everyone away are going, even in the face of murder

The people who'll tell you today's murder victim in Minnesota shouldn't have turned up to a protest carrying a gun are the same people who said Kyle Rittenhouse was perfectly entitled to do the same thing.
