Sure, you learn about people's different life experiences and see situations where they get treated differently and unfairly. You see the world through their eyes, what their struggle is, and how things like race, gender, sexual orientation, disability - for no good reason - can make it harder.

I felt (and still) felt shame that it didn't occur to me that the things IAPG said *could actually fucking happen* until just today. That it's not just some story on "SVU" or some movie. (I watch too much tv, can you tell?)
And I realize that it's my privilege to not have considered its reality.

I acknowledge I have white privilege. I know I get treated and judged differently b/c I'm white. I try to dismantle that as much as I can. I know I have all these other privileges afforded to me because I'm straight and male. I try to enlighten others.

The idea of it actually happening in real life and not just part of a tv show or movie was just too outrageous to consider a reality, I guess. But, I realize different now.
