In hindsight I should have asked the landlord and/or realtor to clean all the mold out the shower and maybe bug bomb the place but to be perfectly honest with how close I was to not landing the lease I wasn't terribly picky

So good news, I'm now moved into my new place. But I have a *lot* of work to do cleanup wise. They haven't cleaned it out in a while so I gotta go hard on cleaning the shower, and everything in between. But I got this.

This is perfectly well said. You gotta make it about the effort and passion you put in, not the end product because you'll always have to cull elements of a project to get it out there, that's just sensibility.

I relate. It can be indulgent sometimes, but I like to describe it thusly - when the tide comes in, sometimes anchoring yourself doesn't help.
Sometimes you need to learn to swim, and to do that you have to dive in for a bit.

It really is the musical equivalent of a very tasty and refreshing cocktail that unfortunately also has a very high alcohol content. The type where you don't realize how many you've had until you're already 2 glasses deep and you're not feeling too hot.
