As usual, what Trump says about this and what the Russians say about it are completely different. Trump always raises expectations in the US so he can later blame Ukraine when talks fail because of Russian intransigence.

The New York Times has reported—and the president seemed to confirm—that Trump has signed what’s called a “presidential finding,” or a classified directive authorizing covert action, against the regime of Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro. trib.al/yz6Yv4I

Children are dying because Trump gutted USAID and cut lifesaving foreign aid — even though it took up less than 1% of the U.S. budget.

Meanwhile, he's preparing to dole out $40 billion to prop up Argentina's failing economy, all to help out his authoritarian pal.

Priorities.

Florida’s surgeon general’s anti-vax beliefs are only the tip of a very deeply weird iceberg.

Joseph Ladapo’s guiding voice? His wife, who believes she can talk to “Archangel Michael, Mary Magdalene, and many other beings of light.”

Gaza has 2.2 million people. In 2 years, 10% of the population has been killed or wounded. Their entire infrastructure has been destroyed.

Instead of giving more military aid to Netanyahu’s extremist government, the US must work with the international community to rebuild Gaza.

Colombian President Petro: US gov has committed murder and violated our sovereignty in territorial waters

Fisherman A. Carranza had no ties to drug trade. Colombian boat was adrift and had its distress signal up due to an engine failure. We await explanations
Another leverage for Putin.

I explain.

Trump goes against Maduro - Venezuela ends up singing a 10y cooperation deal with Russia.

Now Colombia, part of BRICS-led New Development Bank, whose president is pro Russia to begin with. It gives Putin a leverage to be the “mediator” who ends up on top.

Yesterday's No Kings protests were apparently the largest since the first Earth Day in 1970

The NYT covered that story with a six column headline across the top of the paper and two full pages inside

Today, two small pics below the fold and a story on page A23

We can't lower the cost of healthcare or give children free breakfast/lunch at school, or house the unhoused.
But we CAN afford:
$172M for 2 private jets for Kristi Noem
$250M Ballroom
$2M Patio
$1B to update a "free jet"
$3.3M weekend golf
$6M for Hegseth to berate the military
