This was such an awesome experience, especially for an av geek like myself, and I am so happy I get to say I was there when the new Pittsburgh terminal officially opened (and played a part in the process!)

I don’t always enjoy midnight shifts, but an overnight deployment to Pittsburgh Int’l to support their EOC during a transition from an old terminal to a brand new one? Yes yes and 100% yes. Nerding out over here.

Where’s my $10,000 bonus for working two holidays and a 9 hour shift during the time change while we were shut down?

It’s very very easy to say “KEEP FIGHTING, COWARDS” when ur pay isn’t being held hostage.

What is this oversaturated slop doing in my discover feed

I can’t even begin to describe how demoralizing it is to work not knowing when my next paycheck will be, only to see those who can actually do something about it take recess while getting paid and saying shit like “See? You don’t even notice a shutdown because the govt is broken” to constituents.

The modern baseball lasts an average of 2.5 pitches before being taken out of play forever.

In the pitch-clock era, it's astronomically shorter than the shortest lifespan of anything in the animal kingdom.

That’s a little strange. Some sorta survey or something I guess?

Anyone know what this is / what caused it?

This week I’ve been participating in a phased array radar testbed and I’ll say this: if this agency does ultimately choose to fully invest in PAR as the future of weather radar, that future is certainly bright.

No take-backsies, sorry.
Downtown. Midtown Towers. Caller said that she went to UPMC and they tricked her and stole her bones. Caller would like her bones back.

30 minutes into my shift and I have to go on air with a local radio station and say the words "people in Pittsburgh don't need to worry about tsunamis"

If you have time to kill and want to know what a pre-environmental protection era was like, Google the 1948 Donora, PA smog incident
🚨 BREAKING: Trump's EPA is moving to revoke the "endangerment finding," which serves as the legal basis for tackling greenhouse gas emissions.

This is what America looked like before environmental protections. We can't go back.

Well this isn’t ideal, especially given the largest annual festival in Pittsburgh is starting today with storms possible and a heat index > 90F.

I was generally pleased with the responses I heard from Dr. Neil Jacobs today. With this administration and a Republican supermajority, he really was a best case scenario for NOAA Administrator these next few years.
