Trump is forcing dirty and obsolete coal plants to stay open against the wishes of the people in those communities.

Not only are these plants poisoning our air and water, but ordinary Americans are paying MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A DAY to keep them open.

The Department of Energy -- not corporate polluters, and certainly not political appointees -- should be protecting the public, not forcing communities to subsidize unprofitable coal plants.

"Over 60 Western communities have passed resolutions or sent letters opposing public lands sell-off."

Americans all over the country are fighting back against Trump and Republicans' efforts to sell off our public lands.

Public lands belong to us — the American people — not to polluters.
Communities Across The West Are Standing Up For Public Lands
Resolutions opposing the sell-off of public lands have recently passed in counties and towns across the West, demonstrating widespread support for their conservation.

After federal courts ruled that Louisiana’s Congressional district map violated the #VotingRightsAct and diluted the power of Black voters, Louisiana drew a fairer map.

Now, SCOTUS is considering overturning that map — and threatening our voting rights across the country in the process. (thread 🧵)

Trump keeps propping up expensive, unreliable coal plants and your energy bills keep rising.

How Trump’s Coal Plant Obsession is Making Energy More Expensive
Coal plants are dirty, expensive, and unreliable. President Trump is determined to keep them open anyway. Here's how the rest of us are paying the price.

"As families are trying to save, Donald Trump is making it easier for gas companies to waste as much natural gas as they want."

@schumer.senate.gov called out how the Trump admin's reckless reversal of a commonsense methane rule will make families pay even higher energy costs 👇

"EPA's own scientists closed the case on this 16 years ago. But this administration is obsessed with reversing the progress we have made and taking the country backwards."

@schiff.senate.gov defended the restoration of EPA's smart methane standards that protect our air and health.

"This bill is a substantial giveaway to major oil and gas corporations, billionaires, executives – at the expense of working people, once again."

@repraulruizmd.bsky.social was clear: working families cannot afford Republican's reckless LNG scheme that will raise energy costs even more 👇
November 24, 2025 at 5:07 PM
"Exporting more LNG without guardrails does nothing to lower energy bills for hardworking American families. In fact, it will make it worse. And people deserve better."

@usrepkathycastor.bsky.social called out how Republican's harmful LNG scheme would hurt families and raise energy costs.

"Methane is a super pollutant. So it's really important to stop leakage of this dangerous substance."

This week, @whitehouse.senate.gov led efforts to restore commonsense methane safeguards to protect clean air.

4 years ago, an oil spill off of the coast of HB devastated the OC, polluting our beaches and harming our multi-billion dollar coastal economy.

Now, Trump wants to add more offshore drilling off the coast of CA – something that hasn’t happened since 1984. California’s coastline is NOT for sale.
November 20, 2025 at 9:02 PM
This needless, reckless move would jeopardize coastal communities, local economies, and the environment while prolonging our dependence on fossil fuels and doing zero to lower costs.

We need to invest in clean energy, not open up our coasts to drilling that threatens our health, safety, and future.

House Democrats are speaking loudly and clearly that you can’t have real permitting reform when the President is breaking the law to block cheap, clean energy.
November 19, 2025 at 6:50 PM
"Any serious permitting reform package must address – as a threshold – the Trump admins' active undermining of America’s clean energy."

@houseseec.bsky.social, @usprogressives.bsky.social, & @newdemcoalition.bsky.social leaders are clear: Trump's clean energy ban must end before discussing reforms.
Today, SEEC, @newdems.bsky.social, @usprogressives.bsky.social leaders @dorismatsui.bsky.social, @reppaultonko.bsky.social, @quigley.house.gov, @repschneider.bsky.social, @repilhan.bsky.social released a joint statement on the current status of permitting reform negotiations in Congress. 🧵(1/8)

Americans deserve better. Definitely better than whatever House Republicans are cooking up for their billionaire buddies.

We deserve clean, reliable energy, good-paying jobs & affordable healthcare. Democrats won't sacrifice our health, environment, or livelihoods for polluter profits.
