I'm motivated by the progress this month. While we were at BBNJ PrepCom2 last month around this time, we had about 6 more countries to go to reach the threshold for entry into force. We do have a lot to do but am happy with the little little steps.

Today we mark #WorldMaritimeDay by remembering our obligation to protect the ocean. More than 80% of global trade is supported by maritime transport and the ocean plays a key role in climate regulation, is a source of livelihood for many communities and is home to a variety of biodiversity.

St. Kitts and Nevis just submitted their instrument of ratification for the #BBNJ Agreement. 🙂We're all smiles at #BBNJ #PrepCom2 because that brings us to 55 ratifications, getting us closer to 60 and soon the #HighSeasTreaty will enter into force!
