Re: Bills v. Broncos (I know no one cares anymore). It’s a pet peeve for me when die hard fans of a sport get smug about explaining rules to “casuals”, when all most ppl are reacting to is dissatisfaction that a great game comes down to a call that’s even a little ambiguous

i’m a little confused about how “abolish ICE” requires too much explaining to be good politics, but a set of opaque incremental reforms does not.

I think where I’m at is Pauline Kael > Andrew Sarris. But Sarris disciples > Kael disciples. Mainly bc the things that make Pauline special (prose style, humor, reckless overconfidence) are basically impossible to replicate if you’re less talented than she was
