Election Day in Canada. Make sure to exercise your right to vote. The stakes are greater this election than perhaps any time in our country’s history.

Here’s a real discovery.
The best interview we’ve seen with Mark Carney. It’s about more than tariffs and you get a sense of who this person is.
Has flown completely under the media radar.

Indeed I’m fearful. We aren’t testing much any more. We’re firing everyone in govt who can help and stripping funding from academic & industry scientists who can fill the gaps. H5N1 is a real threat & US policy puts us all at risk. Me & colleagues Kay Russo, Kamran Khan, & Keith Poulsen discuss👇🏻
As the H5N1 bird flu virus mutates and rapidly spreads through American cattle herds — a first for the U.S. — doctors and veterinarians are fearful that if the virus is left unchecked, it could spiral into a possible pandemic. https://cbsn.ws/4ionCJG
As bird flu hits cattle herds in U.S., scientists say these H5N1 factors worry them most
Bird flu infections have been rare among people, but the pathogen is evolving, which has scientists worried about a possible pandemic.

This is important not only for health care, but also food and agriculture, environment, natural resources, manufacturing, and everything else in Canadian society. This is an unprecedented opportunity for Canada to reinvent itself as the best country in the world. Let's not squander this opportunity.

Given the rapidly evolving political landscape in the United States and reports of individuals encountering difficulties crossing the border, CAUT strongly recommends that academic staff travel to the U.S. only if essential and necessary.

I love the fight that Canadians are showing, but will we be able to get our act together to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to propel our society to really become the best country in the world? That will take courage, investment and outsized support for education and research.
