@lauriefoon.bsky.social looks like we get you back in Paekawakawa/Southern, and I am delighted (and a bit relieved!) 💚 yay Laurie!

social media is hardly the place to present a singular perspective! nevertheless, i was interested in your perspective. i am genuinely sorry i annoyed you!

absolutely, lecture as solely information transmission is old fashioned. however, much of it will come down to the design of the space. tiered seating is seldom conducive to q-and-a, nor independent, albeit catalysed, group discussion.

even then, a recording that includes discussion, can be useful.

then the copy must be the back-up?!

… caveats about neo-liberalism and universities as elaborate landlords notwithstanding!

i agree with your other points. however, if you’re in a ‘traditional’ lecture theatre, the q-&-a becomes, ahem, theatre & benefits very few. if you want constructive collaborative learning, then wānanga, seminars or [oxford] tutorials will not only look like rugby practice, it'll feel like it.

which one are you developing?

CoCA on Pukeahu here… it’s very much a related to pedagogy in the attention economy/society. lectures aren’t that different from video. granted: not an easy thing to change for law maybe? are you in control of the release of the video so that you can build it into the timing & flow of a syllabus?

here’s your semi regular reminder that NZ has chosen a commodity driven, market based economy that only supports only a few directly.

it’s not complicated: infrastructure for everyone, responsive support for those that need it. austerity doesnt work www.rnz.co.nz/news/top/575...

In NZ there are chilling moves towards illiberal democracy. While they are being strong resisted so far, political leaders and others must wake up.

“now more than ever, Europe should hold large US tech firms accountable for anti-competitive market rigging, snooping on Europeans, and preying on our children. Brussels must hold Ireland accountable for failing to enforce Europe’s digital rules on US firms.”

Provide free banking and mortgage lending at OCR+1 as a public banking service, and nationalise fossil fuel electricity generation (and incentivise generators to reduce it's use). Split wholesale / retail grocery and force sale of half of supermarkets to several new entrants. No more half measures.

it will make a difference if Meta has to give you a clean feed. ie: one that reflects your interests and choices.

… if we can legislate for accessible spaces & assistive technologies… it’s high time we legislated for recognisable reality… or at least the ability to control how information is accessed on the platforms we chose to engage with.

this might even mean that platforms benefit from diverse #ux

Unemployment has increased by 50,000 since he’s been Prime Minister. That’s 50,000 families affected.

Luxon is just giving up his responsibility as Prime Minister for his citizens - to look tough against people who are trying their best.

Where are the jobs?

The Post denounces National's plans to strip 55,000 people of their votes as anti-democratic. Then they hide this democratic message behind a paywall.
