Yes, we argue vociferously, backed by empirical research, that patients’ wellbeing and health outcomes will suffer from the Trump administration’s push to end DEI policies at US medical schools

The BMJ @bmj.com · 13h
The Trump administration and its allies have taken several steps to ensure that medical schools in the US dismantle all diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

It is patients who will be the victims of this, write @gavinyamey.bsky.social and @michaeldgreen.com

Many don’t realize the breadth of cdc. They do far more than fight infectious disease and recommend vaccines. They are key to all areas of health: chronic disease, maternal and child health, gun violence, substance abuse, suicidal prevention, on and on. Killing ourselves literally by gutting cdc.

Even MTG understands how devastating this will be! I wish mass media would stand up and give these straightforward simple examples to demonstrate the forthcoming disaster and allow the people to understand that the GOP just doesn’t give a sh!t about real working people!

Virginia’s 2026 ACA marketplace window shopping is underway, meaning people are already seeing next year’s premiums spike because of expiring tax credit enhancements. A typical 60-year-old couple making $85,000 in Virginia will face a $18,000 increase in annual premiums. (1/4)

Sad part is that many are tested for free in populations that have no other options (Africa, SE Asia, etc.)

I used to play some of my dad’s records at home when I was an early teen. Lots of great 60s stuff, Dylan, the Doors, the Byrds, etc… Mixed w/ these was Cash. I never played him & always thought he was out of place in the collection. Then in my early 30s I rediscovered him and knew why he belonged.

I’d understand if he made this mistake once. Anyone can make an error when speaking in public… but he does this time and time again. 🤷‍♂️

Skipped the day they covered percentages in middle school.

Drug prices to drop by 100% to 500%!

Would be quite the feat to have drug companies paying us to take meds!

JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are doing something new and important: They understand Stephen Miller's theory of fascist power politics, and they've developed a theory on how to combat it. More Dems need to reckon with Miller's understanding of the moment.

New from me:

Inside Stephen Miller’s Secret Plan to Normalize Trump’s Dictator Rule
He wants to supercharge searing civil tensions to get low-information voters to embrace their inner authoritarian. Exactly two Democrats appear to fully grasp this.

If people covered financially short term does that limit incentives for long term fixes. Flood mitigation, clean energy, etc.

As an infectious dis analogy, this may lead to lack of prevention if we have a treatment.

Complex issue but an interesting strategy. Will be following developments. 2/2

Do you have a source for additional details on financing this? The article was a bit light on who would be covered. Obviously worried that those most in need of relief may be left out if charges levied to those covered. Also a bit worried about moral hazard issues here. … 1/2
