Signal is more secure than most digital platforms for communication but also you should not plot crimes in Signal because Signal is only as secure as the weakest person in your groupchat when under interrogation by police and also planning crimes in writing makes your lawyer cry.

Justice. We need justice for this man's impunity and rank abuse of his position.
DHS is using explosives on people’s homes???

“Bovino has often used the phrase “turn and burn” to describe Border Patrol operations, a reference to actions like smashing windshields, using explosives to blow down the doors of homes and engaging in car chases.” www.nytimes.com/2026/01/26/u...

What a waste this is... all that habitat and soil loss, water use, carbon use, not to mention all the nitrates. 30 million acres of dead zones. Ugh. We could stop this tomorrow.
30 million acres of corn harvested for ethanol in the USA.

Major win for civil society. May he face accountability for his actions.
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Good riddance. And a win. Americans will get to hound him elsewhere. This man must be forced out of our government and face charges for his violence.
CNN reports that Bovino is leaving Minnesota

Sat down this morning and wrote an opinion piece for posting on LinkedIn that opened with the line "It cannot be business as usual". The way I 'grew up' professionally is that one never mixed the personal with the professional, never mentioned politics, but this moment? We need our full selves.

If you missed this interview with Minneapolis Director of Emergency Management Rachel Sayre this weekend, it's worth a listen.

Thread.
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdami advises New Yorkers to stay home and read ‘Heated Rivalry’ during the winter storm

This is just so good. A mayor being a mayor but showing (not just standing behind a comfy microphone) what city services look like and what residents can expect (and do). Everything about Momdani's administration is "here's how we are serving" and also how people can help. 🌟
We're getting a snowstorm tomorrow. But New York City is prepared.

Coping with America today by getting my house in order...something about a clean house, front door all scrubbed and winter landing tidied, sink cleared, all the rest, helps manage the outer chaos, and sitting at my desk crafting a message for my business network calling out the silence.

Hey, hi.
Soldier here.
Just want to say, don't feel like you have to watch videos of violence. No average person should be confronted with what we're seeing on our streets. Bear witness if you can, sure, but know yourself and your limits--you can help in other ways.

We work for a better world.

Made myself a little plum tea cake with some Whidbey plums I had in the freezer just to take my mind off it all... house now smells like cake which, yes, helps. No writing today, words are rage stuck.

This. A handful of Americans have the power to stop this NOW, and they are refusing to.
His death is caused by one man and his Republican collaborators. Republicans in Congress could stop this today. Call your Senators today www.5calls.org #DefundICE

Looks like a good man this one. He was helping a woman knocked down by ICE when they mobbed him.

He should be alive today.

We must get this regime out of our government. Out of our society. And there must be accountability and justice for their crimes.
Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

Oh that thing when you preordered plants for Spring shipment months ago and then in the optimism of the New Year, ordered some more for the same spots because you completely forgot.... and oye, now I'm going to have to get creative.

This is making me choke up... it's like -9 in Minnesota. It's so cold. Like dangerously cold and still, the people are in the streets. Don't tell me we can't be a better nation--we are.
Cannot see the end of it.

One of the non-profits I support makes a point to reach out to every single donor, no matter the size of donation, and say thanks in the New Year. Board members and senior staff take this on, and working through my list of 80 some, whoooo...talk about filling up the well. Community is where it's at.

Clear and cold with no rain in the ten day forecast. Upper 20s tonight, say the weather people. Everything is covered in thick frost and the skies are blue and the office cozy and I am ever grateful for my life. Restocking the wood stack, covering the rosemary, doing my work. Good Friday.

My nieceling has been in Paris for a week and doesn't want to come home. Three going on four weeks in Europe, no car, three countries, first time and traveling solo making friends with other unis along the way... I think we've lost her to France (perfectly delighted with that idea).
