In 1987, Tom Wolfe fretted over a threat to established institutions by a group that "sought nothing less than to sweep aside all codes and restraints of the past." He blamed "the hippies." One wonders what he would say about our current political plight. matiane.wordpress.com/2021/11/30/g...
Great Relearning – 20th Century Is Over by Tom Wolfe

What went wrong with the @nytimes?
How the hell do you write a piece about historians writing for the courts that quotes three judges and four law profs but ZERO historians?

My beef—well, one of—is how “popular historians appropriate the work of academic researchers to gain sales and notoriety, pretending they did all the work themselves.

Our colleague, @provatlantic.bsky.social , came up with a great anti-AI phrase: “Leave History to people.” Can we make this go viral? @kawulf.bsky.social @dwaldstreicher.bsky.social @danmandel.bsky.social
Dem leaders just can’t let go of their tired, losing ways.
An alternative interpretation: Native Americans didn't kill enough Coulters.
Yall don’t get it. You don’t. Get. It.

It’s so sad. You don’t see us and never have. And until you do, you’re doomed too. It’s not “at first they came for us.” It’s that they’re still coming for us, and have, since 1492.

The Academy was founded by John Adams during the American Revolution.

Every institute should be fighting back.

Millions of Americans stood at the barrel of a gun to help protect what Trump is destroying now.

So, ICE isn’t actually going after gangs and drug-dealers? Who would have guessed?
He missed the deadline to submit a single form 10 years ago, amidst family grief when his wife suffered a stillbirth. He did nothing illegal. Paid his taxes, completed citizenship documentation. But once you activate a police state, they don't care about individual circumstances.
gotta say I did not anticipate ICE goons going after the whitest possible immigrants with American families, jobs, and in good standing legally. a freaking Danish-born welder in Mississippi with four blonde kids and a pregnant wife. just omnidirectional hate
Proud of my alma mater tonight.
I appreciate that the Tufts University School of Arts and Sciences has this prominently placed at the top of their main webpage right now. as.tufts.edu

I submit a proposition: Fox News is the greatest threat to our society and national security, amplifying falsehoods, eliding truths, and distorting reality.
Hey, I wonder if there's any economic news today. I'll check out the website of America's biggest news network--Fox! Phew. Nothing's up! Biggest news in US today is a very nice Christian woman was slapped for no reason after sticking a camera in a stranger's face & calling her a baby killer.

Important to remember that the reason most Trump voters think everything's fine is that their chosen media is telling them little more than that he's cutting government waste and frogmarching criminals out of the country. Real information doesn't reach them. An economic collapse? That might.

Harris Faulkner's Fox News show has been on for 20 minutes now. She has not mentioned tariffs or stocks once and a stock ticker isn't being displayed. Strong state media vibes.
More tyranny from the Trump Administration.
